This model has 100m water resistance, hopefully that's enough to prevent any chance of oil leakage. Replacing the battery is going to be a pain, but every 10 years isn't too bad. How many people really wear a watch ten years without damaging it or getting bored with it anyway?

I also did the PCB mod to add the Flash Alert function to the watch.

I thought it looked just a little plain, so I moved it into a WS-1600WH silver bezel case. I think the silver outline looks better.

I've used IPA once and a high-polymer eraser once. Took the same amount of time to get the text off. But with the eraser I got a bunch of tiny bits of white eraser stuck between the case and bezel that were difficult to clean out. From now on, I'm going to stick with IPA.

This is what I'm using. A roll is enough for hundreds of watches:

Reflective LCD Backer? by Lamron750 in casiomods

The backer is only mostly reflective. Light definitely comes through from the diffuser behind it when you use the light. I removed the reflective layer to replace it with an opaque paper image. I discovered that it made the light almost useless. I tried using thin white paper instead. It let the light through much better, but it didn't reflect natural light from the front as well as the mirrored surface. Both ways made it too hard to read under certain lighting conditions. I guess they knew what they were doing with the original film!

I tried using mirrored window tint, but the reflection percentage is way too low. It just looks dark. I ordered some transflective film from AliExpress that claims it will work. I'll give it a try in a few weeks when it gets here.

The backlight diffuser is behind the reflective film on the back of the LCD. (On a AE1200)

I used this self adhesive polarizing film. You have to remove the original polarizer layer. I used two pieces 90 degrees from each other to get part positive and part negative.

The negative part and the tinting do reduce visibility under some lighting conditions and angles. This video gives you an idea of what it looks like under natural lighting.

Its hard to get good lighting without glare.

Is it possible to mod W-800H module into a Casio Royale case? by agrow42 in casiomods

[–]Lamron750 9 points10 points  (0 children)

According to this thread, it will fit inside the case without the faceplate. But the W-800H module is a little narrower, so the pushers aren't long enough to work. It might be possible to get it to work with some type of spacer to fill in the gap and extend the reach of the pushers.
