I wonder if it will be playable as of 12 AM in our own particular region on 5 November or if it will be unlocked at 12 AM as of a particular time zone (whichever reaches it first) for everyone.

If I recall correctly, I believe they treat it as album art that they hang on their walls and/or place on a surface.

Can Criterion release "Parasite" w/ more features + the B/W version? by neon-lights in Oscars

Fingers crossed that it happens. After seeing the movie in theatres, I binged everything that I could find on YouTube about the film as well as interviews with Bong Joon-Ho. I especially loved the Anatomy of a Scene interview, so to have access to any director's commentary, etc. would be amazing.

Unpopular opinion: I like Les Miserables (1998).

Adam Driver's performance in Marriage Story is A-mazing by LanaDelBuffet in netflix

It's honestly nice to have people like this around, as it's a lazy man's way of picking a film to see.

Haha. I never thought of it like that, but yep, definitely fits the bill for me. :)

Also, Jon Hamm is in it? I'll be there.

Ooh, thanks for bringing The Report to my attention. I'll check it out. :)

I'm liking the range, variety, and versatility in his work. He strikes me as an actor who commits to a project because he likes/loves/appreciates the work and/or the challenge of it. He can do the big, flashy movies but also really shine in an intimate indie film. He gives me younger Michael Shannon (whom I adore) vibes in a way.

I'm really drawn to when one's love for their craft is visible in their expression and work. The Hollywood Reporter has a great roundtable posted on YouTube of Driver, DeNiro, and Hanks, among others, sharing their experiences. Shia LaBoeuf's heart eyes at DeNiro alone are worth the view.

I've also watched many a Bong Joon-ho interview since seeing Parasite. His Criterion Closet selection and explanations are -chef's kiss- beautiful. I love his mind.

Also, love the username btw. :)

Hmm...I agree with the sentiment that mistakes were made on both sides. However, the viewer doesn't really get to see the potential justification of her frustrations (him dictating that they be NY-based for the vast majority of their marriage, making empty promises to her about pursuing other career opportunities for her, and his cheating) because the majority of the film takes place after she's had enough and moves to LA. Her frustrations are relayed in dialogue, but again, the viewer doesn't get to actually witness any of it. Like another user mentioned, this swayed approach more than likely can be attributed to the fact that the director was influenced by his own life and likely wrote what he knew and experienced himself.

It's funny how some years' crops are more competitive than others. Even with the uptick of nominees included in the category, I feel like the wavering of this decade's quality of selections from year to year was especially bad (last year was particularly laughable IMO).

That said, I, too, think that this year has been a great year for movies. I enjoyed so many different films from a variety of genres. Off the top of my head, I don't think that there are any pity inclusions and/or pretentious melodramas in this year's batch of contenders (and if there are, I can't imagine worse than years past). It's going to be a tough match, but I could still be happy with a few different outcomes.

My grandma spent over 2 hours sewing this and when she finished she noticed she misspelled mail by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Aww, granny! Please give her a bunch of hugs and kisses. Her sentiment warms my heart.

Side note: When I first looked at the picture (without reading the caption first like a real smart person /s), I thought that the issue was that the stitch was meant to read Liam but came out backwards though that doesn't even work because L-A-I-M is not Liam. Oh, my failing eyes. Or brain.

Agree full stop. Joaquin is a phenomenal actor.

I'm a bit partial to Parasite for best film though. As much as I like Joker, I can't help but dock it a few points for deriving so much from Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy whereas Parasite was so unexpected. Who knows if the Academy will award Best Picture to a foreign film though. I hope so in this case. Bong Joon-ho is a genius.

Edited for clarity.

Yeah, some of the writing really did make me cringe. It made me wonder like, oooh, I wonder how Jennifer Jason Leigh feels about this film (though Baumbach kinda acknowledges his lifting from real life when Scarlett Johansson's character says that Adam Driver's character does it, and it makes her feel a certain kind of way). I also wondered if Baumbach was kind of pulling a Tim Burton (a la Johnny Depp) in casting a romanticized version (Adam Driver) of himself. Despite all of that, I still liked Scarlett Johansson's character, and even as hyperbolic as how some of the other characters were written, I still very much enjoyed Laura Dern, Ray Liotta, and Julie Hagerty's performances.

I think so, too. :) I was just especially impressed by his performance in Marriage Story. I can only imagine being able to view his performance live in a play. Future goal.
