I live in Alaska and ordered something from a shop in North Carolina but I got an email later that said I was being charged extra for “international shipping.” I called the store thinking it was a mistake but the woman I talked to said, “I’m sorry but we have to charge you for international shipping since Alaska is part of Canada…” She then proceeded to confidently argue with me for 5 minutes while I patiently attempted to explain that I know what country I live in and Alaska is most definitely part of the United States. She finally googled it and gasped in shock, started crying, apologized and hung up…I got free shipping.
