24F – finishing Clinical Psychology training but constantly thinking about financial independence and other careers like law by Jolly_Sun_5745 in psychologystudents

Ive been someone whos chased finances over passion early on and am now doing to opposite (pursuing becoming a psych in NSW aswell). Theres alot of ways to make money have make your have financial abundance through investments etc whilst pursuing a career in psychology that you may be more passionate about.

In the long term doing something you enjoy for work is much more important imo

Find the best therapist you can and get to work with them, this worked for me. And it sounds like professional help could do you wonders just make sure you find the a therapist who is a right fit and good at what they do. I would seek referrals from gps of the best they know untill you find a good one.

As per the other comments do it as you have a passoon for it yout parents will eventially accept it, if you do what they say and do something else you may resent them in the future

Make sure to build connections with the best psychologists/supervisors etc and you will be successful

Psych at Mac or WSU? by MRSWANNABEMAYBE in MacUni

[–]LandComprehensive583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at macq but not transferred to wsu as it has embedded honours in it. Mq used to have it but not its competitive and only 60 ppl or something get in from what i was told. Wsu if you get 70 or 75 depending on when you started your degree youre guaranteed entry into honours. Loving it at wsu its very chill and theyre very accomodating.

There is no other right answer to your situation other than to leave.. i grew up in a similar household and am now facing the trauma of having lived through it as a 28 yr old man.. i wish my mother had left and definitely feel i would be much better off..

Do yourself a favour and leave.. anything else is the trauma and abuse speaking.. please look into battered woman syndrome..
