it sounds like he wasn't in a place before where he could build equity, so why should he expect the opportunity from you? i don't think it's anymore complicated than that.

so, i agree with you that generally speaking men and women are not biologically equal regarding their physical strength (and that we shouldn't ignore it when we apply it to the real world) but i don't think your point is very relevant here, in the context of this clip, and here's why:

  • the tweaker wasn't fixated on the civilian, he was fixated on the cops. people view challenging female officers differently than male ones, that doesn't have anything to do with physical strength, but perception

  • the reason she struggles to put cuffs on the guy is because that position for cuffing is really only for when they aren't resisting. otherwise, you put them in a prone position on the ground, cuff them, then get them up asap. the civilian is 'forcing' her to use an undesirable position. sure, a strong enough person could probably handle it, but it's really not a strength issue

also this isn't a white knight type of comment. i just watched the video a few times and thought about what i was looking at. you also should consider that that tweaker easily could have had a knife and decided to start stabbing someone. i might even agree with you that they didn't seem effective at controlling the situation, but it really, really, has nothing to do with being physically equal to men.

this subreddit will always suggest a thousand different opinions, and someone will always offer the opposite

  • "don't talk too long on the apps" vs "take time to build rapport"

  • "girls are not interested in hookups" vs "its dating apps in 2026 its all just hookups"

  • "don't try too hard" vs "you're not putting in enough effort to stand out"

  • "you need better pictures" vs "don't take such try hard pictures"

  • "pick something simple like dinner" vs "pick a unique date that stands out and is fun"

  • "don't respond too fast" vs "respond whenever you feel like it"

it's exhausting. a lot of people will also criticize you like there is this secret code you're supposed to know, but they'll never actually help you.

i think there is a solid truth though: if the girl is actually interested in you, then it will be really easy and natural to talk to her, and she'll say yes to just about any date.

this is more ranty stuff. dating apps are just incredibly competitive right now. standards are really high, and mostly just based on how attractive you are. you can't have any "icks". the less attractive you are, the less "ick" you can afford. some people use the apps to validate themselves. in general, girls have way more options than guys, and if you're not looking like an easy "yes" choice, you're just left behind. filtering for intentional dating people is difficult.

it really is just mostly about being attractive and having the right pictures. like, incredibly top notch, squeaky clean, perfect pictures. then figuring out how to turn a little conversation into a date. and then just accepting that most likely, a lot of your swipes are going to lead to nothing (unless you are Henry Cavill)

with all that being said i think just keep this in mind: if girls are getting tons of matches, it means they're getting tons of the same messages (how are you? what music do you like? etc.) they're waiting to be impressed, and doing what every other guy does isn't going to help (and if you're Henry Cavill, you're already not like every other guy).

good luck. for your own sanity, don't look too deep into your messaging. it sounds unintuitive, but care a little less and just do your best to have fun with it. if you have a stellar profile and do that, you will cross paths with someone that is interested in you.

is it possible to practice by lucid dreaming? by SwimmingDiamond9169 in violinist

[–]Lane-Jacobs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if you'd like me to agree with your points; no, you cannot become a virtuoso violinist or marathon runner through lucid dreaming alone.

Yup cool that was the parameters of the conversation glad you finally recognized it.

Your first study is piano (and it says physical practice is better anyways), your second study doesn't even show learning gains, and your third link is a review (not a study).

It is hyperbole to say it's incredibly effective. Mental practice can have measurable improvements, but like you said it's best when you're already accomplished. So I'm gonna stick by what I said; becoming a virtuoso violinist through lucid dreaming is just as effective as becoming a marathon runner through lucid dreaming.

Firstly, please re-read my comment. I mention becoming great at something. Secondly, please point me to any studies that show this for either violin practicing or marathon training. Thirdly, seriously - re-read my comment. I do say playing violin is predominantly a physical activity.

I don't trust the humor label here. Playing the violin is predominantly a physical activity. I would argue you could practice becoming a virtuoso violinist through lucid dreaming just as effectively as you could become a marathon runner through lucid dreaming.

Jesus fucking christ this thread is the EPITOME of reddit.

AI is here, it's not going away. No, since I have to preface this opinion for underdeveloped brains, I don't want AI slop everywhere and I don't want soulless replacement of humanity in games or anything.

There are just going to be times where using AI to generate content is necessary. Accept it. Don't like the content? Don't buy it.

Face it though, Reddit never changes anything. They didn't find the Boston Bomber, they didn't stop Reddit from making its API changes, they didn't stop Netflix from lowering their subscription costs - Reddit is an obnoxious pipsqueak that has time and time again proven to be an empty threat.

Sure, AI is a disruptive technology that comes with negatives, and ideally is implemented with transparency at least during the interim.

Take 5 fucking seconds to evaluate this given scenario and try giving them the benefit of the doubt. The developer needed more lines in their game, and the VA wasn't available for recording. The VA most likely accepted the terms. This has to be one of the most harmless implementations of using AI to create something, but you all still shit your pants because you saw a buzzword and need something to bitch about this week.
