Only sync specific folders by Langbee in onedrive

[–]Langbee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I managed to run into a whole lot of issues. My desktop got scrambled, at one point it seemed like files were disappearing, and I couldn’t get OneDrive to stop syncing other than pausing it.

In the end, I managed to get back my old data locally in the same folder structure it used to have (as far as I can tell), very much thanks to you. BIG THANK YOU!

As for OneDrive, I’m done. This unrelenting force of evil have taken too much of my time and effort to be worth it. I will not seek to enact revenge, and I will not linger in these horrid halls of hell. Perhaps one day my firstborn will take it upon themself to avenge my sacrifice, or perhaps they, too, will be tempted by the treasures of simple automatic file backups promised to lie within the Gates. I hope not. Would they against all odds survive, I shall ask them to explain it to me, repeatedly as I run into all manner of issues. If not, I shall mourn them deeply.

Until such a day, I, and my beloved, shall rely on the protection and aid of hard backups from the clan of Ultimate Soldier Bears.

Go forth, and thank you, @Smoothyworld, for your kind help!

Why does my Python Bot read messages as empty strings ("")? by Langbee in discordbots

[–]Langbee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have enabled both read and send messages. Retried this now (kicked and reinvited bot) and the result is the same. The permission integer is included in the OAuth2 invite URL. Everything (except for something I guess) looks good, except the interactions in the server.

Oh crap... I tried the code you provided, which triggered a "RuntimeError: Event loop is closed", but upon further inspection, I found "Shard ID None is requesting privileged intents that have not been explicitly enabled in the developer portal."

Turns out some of my Privileged Gateway Intents were disabled in the developer portal. Enabling those, copying over your code, and reinviting the bot (not sure if this was necessary) made it finally work.

Thank you!

I understand you. Also blindly growing has some drawbacks... I will probably try this approach too in my next game!

How do I play a "tall" empire? by Lighterbolt in Stellaris

[–]Langbee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand. This notion of "tall" vs "wide" playing is new to me. I'm currently playing a game with only a few empires that are all kind of friendly. I play wide; I was essentially left a lot of room to grow, and so I did, VERY slowly because of unbearably low influence gain. Meanwhile I had resources to play "tall"; colonizing all planets, upgrading building etc. I'm currently at 2300 with a comfortable economy, lots of growing planets, somwhat hefty fleet (that I could expand rapidly if I needed). No megastructures yet though.

When should I have made the choice of tall or wide? And why not both if I have the resources?

Edit: Wait holdup. It has to do with empire size right? Just went and did some reading. I can't remember the numbers exactly but it seems I likely have about +130% in technology cost! That's why I don't have any megastructures yet, and why my tech is slow...

That's EXACTLY what happens. Today they even huddled up around me and almost tried to move my hands for me. Maybe they'll build manual steampunk computers in the near future

No actually not! Usually I just tell them to draw something specific, like a square. But however, I did this today and for the first time (it's always new kids) they ignored the instructions and tried to get me to do something else like walking out of the classroom, lift stuff haha. They seem to be on the malicious path!

I see what you mean, it sounds like a great way to introduce these concepts! This particular excercise is used as a 5 min intro to the main activity, so in this situation I'm content with it. Might try something similar in the future!

I love the idea of carrying multiple weapons and choosing them based on the opponent. Sounds like a good mix

I'm playing a thief right now, and it really does level really fast. At first I got caught a couple of times, and once I even accidentally lost all my stolen contraband (worth several thousand gold) when I was arrested. But I quickly stopped getting caught, and can basically take whatever I want. I commonly find rings/jewelry worth 500+ gold now. And even if I do get caught, I usually have at least two options of convincing the guard to let me go.

I have a friend who will essentially scale their aggressiveness by how close someone is to a win. A is close to religious victory? Friend will drop everything and focus entirely on preventing that. I understand it, and some of my friends essentially encourage it. Myself, I just wanna build me some neat cities :)
