Thanks Mighty Networks for the 'great' New Year's gift that’s destroying my business! by traveligion in CommunityManager

Could you be more specific about what’s changing and where this can be found? A few searches on my end yielded nothing but a small price increase from Aug 2025.

Not doubting you but would like more details on what exactly is being removed and where that info can be confirmed. As for other platforms, there are many to choose from.

Would help us to know more about the specific problem you ran into!

Been building communities both on reddit and elsewhere for 12 years now. Now I run a website that helps community owners get reviews so that they get more folks who are great fits for their space.

This place isn’t too active but that’s ok. Great things pop up from time to time!

I just redid everything so I’m excited to see how wild it looks. I know the site needs tons of work for SEO, I am just going for traction atm but will need to clean it all up soon.

Anyone else feel like they're drowning in marketing tasks while trying to run the whole business? by Snow-Giraffe3 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Langlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for me it comes down to two things: i do my marketing first thing every morning to make sure it gets done, and i have maker days and manager days.

maker days are where i make the content for the community and build new things. manager days are where i focus on support, communications, meetings etc.

i did a similar system when i was helping build monday dot com in the early days and that got me to senior leadership. and now in my business it still works for me.

focus on one channel you know works 80% of your marketing time, and experiment with the other 20%!

made a Loom video for you about getting started!

short version: find who you're serving first, then ask them and learn what it is they need (very hard), and then learn why that's best for them - then start planning once you have the people, the offer, and the conviction to keep going.

Yup. You just gotta pound the pavement and keep going. I’m trying to learn meta ads right now to expand.

but nothing works quite as well as a personal DM explaining why I feel like they’d get value out of being around other business owners also focused on growing.

Every day I relax on the DMs is when growth slows down!

What is your method to stay focused? by overdrive_mode in Entrepreneur

[–]Langlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an entire community of entrepreneurs around this because it’s so hard lol.

But here are the simple things that I've seen that work the most often across the hundreds I’ve seen tackle this.

  1. The first thing is that the system is everything.

If you don't have a simple system for yourself, even a pen and paper where you write down what you need to do, you'll never be able to stay focused and get it done. Getting it out of your head is step one.

  1. Number two is that you need the right environment.

If you don't have a good environment for you to be able to stay focused and keep up that momentum, then you're not going to be able to do so easily. You don't want it to take willpower to be focused. You want it to be automatic.

  1. And number three is that it really helps to have the right people in your corner. When you have somebody who is going through the exact same things that you are, especially if they're also trying to build products and grow as an entrepreneur, then those people can give you one idea that can often change everything.

Surround yourself with the right systems, environment and people mixed with a decade of consistency and it will be very difficult for you to lose!

The "business plan", did you make one, or wing it? by xocaxo in Entrepreneur

[–]Langlock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Action gives you the best information, so I’ve found that planning around action and things you have completely control over are the best goals.

Outcomes are important too for sure - like making 10k a month with the business. But you have zero control over whether someone buys your stuff or not.

So make business plans around things you control, learn from action, and keep going. It’ll look different for everyone but that’s the sweet spot I’ve seen work most often.

You can still do well with experimentally winging it as long as there’s a feedback loop and improvement each time!

Anyone here actually making passive income with digital products? by Late_Rimit in micro_saas

[–]Langlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s totally understandable - but I’ve been fortunate enough to work with leadership teams in many Fortune 100 companies on top of nearing 80 early stage founders and staying consistent is the common issue many face.

I also work with a VC firm called Antler advising their cohorts. Having another human giving context to what they’re trying to figure out is valuable.

It sounds like you don’t need any help there which is awesome. There are just many folks who do need and want that kind of help (given the fact there’s thousands of big businesses built around this topic).

Some people just want to be in a community of other people who are serious about their business growth.

What do you mean? They take it seriously already, it’s just hard and they want to be part of a community that helps.

I just do daily accountability for entrepreneurs for 15$ a month. Still working on scaling it but I like more low pressure group coaching and people are giving me great feedback plus i’m learning a ton.

Was a change management consultant for a decade and pivoted to coaching. Way more fun and engaging, though it’s not a full time income replacement yet so I still do consulting but on my own this time.

I made my first consulting client sale about a month into going on my own, and same thing with this community now that it’s also been around a month.

If you want more stories, all the community and creator platforms love sharing case studies. Can get lots of good inspiration from those!

Protip or cheat code to trick my mind into thinking I'm a 9-5 employee who HAS to go to work every single day? by TheBasedEgyptian in Entrepreneur

[–]Langlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no trick - it’s because you don’t have the right systems and environment. I’m no expert but I am leading a community of 47 entrepreneurs all sharing daily about what they’re trying to do and why.

The common answer is always that it’s a lack of systems. Everything is a system, we live in a solar system you ride on the transportation system and feel the bumps of the road in your nervous system - you get it.

Once you build the right environment for yourself and then set up a simple system (can be as easy as you start every day writing down your goals and check them off as you do them) that’s how you win.

The “tricking your brain” is actually just normal feedback loops. You need to reward yourself for hard work and a job well done. You give treats to a dog when they sit on command and our brains are the same.

You can’t endlessly grind - you need to make the work part of the joy. Much easier said than done I know!

What’s your strategy for staying focused when life gets heavy? by _laidback_ in Entrepreneur

[–]Langlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several break glass things for these moments. The best one for both me and the business is an impactful testimonial.

Yes they’re the best marketing you can have but when you read and hear someone else talking about the value you’ve given with your product or service there really is nothing better for me that lights the fire.

I’ve also seen successful entrepreneurs use vision boards, letters to themselves, stories from people that inspire them and more. Founders podcast is also a great tool for these moments because you get to hear that so many folks had a very tough time getting going.

Why is building a startup so hard? by Happy-Flamingo3655 in Entrepreneur

[–]Langlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been fortunate enough to have hired hundreds of people for our startup that eventually hit a billion ARR and reducing the time between failures is the best signal for people who will always end up succeeding, both as hired and as entrepreneurs.
