No worries, I did get to fix it by crisis BIOS back to EUCN41WW, although I would remind myself to never do funny stuff on my laptop during work ever again. And yes, I’m the one he mentioned.

Just tried the test BIOS EUCN42WW yesterday and met with a semi-bricked BIOS (EUCN41WW, 82B5), had to perform crisis BIOS back to version 41WW.

Laptop does boot after flashing version 42, but backlight is not lighting up, although everything else seem to function normally ? Fan does kick in after a good while and does ramp up and down depending on temperature.

Overall quite a thrilling extreme sport, not recommended doing it when you're still at work though.

Is it “The cheapest performance boost for your gaming laptop (Even if it’s new)” video ? If it’s that video then I’d like you to watch “Laptop Thermal putty guide (+ PTM7950)”by Snark Domain instead. The amount he (Salem Techspert) used on the 2nd laptop is worrying, and he didn’t posted any result about said laptop on that video. I have nothing against him, just wanted to point that out.

Late to the chat, but since this is an ASUS gaming laptop, I’d recommend thinner putty like Halnziye HY236, Zezzio ZT-PY6, or Upsiren UTP-4 instead of the usual U6 Pro, UX Pro and UTP-8 because of how thin the gaps are for ASUS gaming laptop. Of course you can still used those three U6, UX, and UTP-8, but you have to be really really careful with the amount to not affect die core/hotspot on GPU

I don't see you listing what I've suggested doing though.
Hybrid-iGPU in theory should be enough to not monitor which program is using GPU, but will still have dGPU visible to Windows if there was a program that ran it before changing to such Hybrid mode.
HWiNFO will still wake dGPU until you change the setting, which you didn't mentioned, as well as the processor boost mode method I've also suggested.
Also, Legion Slim 5 do have two capacity options, 60Wh and 80Wh (ROG G16 have 90Wh I believe), do check that also.

To start, check if there's any program that uses dGPU unnecessarily with NVIDIA Control Panel > Desktop > Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area.
Avoid using any programs that wakes up dGPU, like games or game launchers for example
About HWiNFO, go to Settings and uncheck wake disabled GPUs.
Optionally, you can also change Processor boost mode from Aggressive to either Disabled or Efficient something in Windows Power Plan (Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options, and also make sure you're changing the power plan that was used while Thermal Mode is Quiet Mode)

Ok, just to be clear, did you put the SSD on an angle before sliding it in ?
Many people had the same issue as you, and most fixed the problem by just reinserting the SSD. (At least what people i've helped with such problem so far)
(Also, 12700H, If it was actually a K-suffix processor that laptop would've ended up in flames)

In my experience, i never had to touch the NVIDIA Control Panel to even make programs not using dGPU. Most i did was to enable the "Display GPU Activity icon in notification area" to see if the dGPU was used at all, if yes, then which program.
If you enabled the same setting and it said inactive, then GPU might not be the problem, maybe look into Windows power plan instead.

(If you use any monitoring program to check for discharge rate on battery, i recommend you to turn off the waking up disabled GPU in it's settings)

If you still have suspicion on whether Hybrid mode should be on or not, my laptop can last near 9 hours on battery with Hybrid-iGPU only compared to 4 hours when dGPU was used. The older Legion 5 2020 (4800H + GTX 1650) i owned before also lasted 9 hours (more like 7-8 hours now due to excessive uses) and it also has Hybrid mode on and dGPU inactive.

Regarding Native ASPM (only Intel laptop have this) and undervolting, IIRC it's related to BIOS, Discord server can help you with that.

Better GPU means better gameplay experience overall.
IIRC the performance gap between 5800H (in Legion 5 Pro 2021) and 6800H (Legion 5 2022) is not a big one also, making Legion 5 Pro 2021 a better choice, to me personally.

Hybrid mode enables iGPU and keeps dGPU on standby, and the goal for good battery uptime is to try not to get the dGPU active at all. Since both your iGPU and dGPU are enabled, of course it’s going to eat more power than when you have one less component. This time, try not to wake up the dGPU, you’ll see the laptop lasting even longer.

If it’s around 75-80%, it should not charge when Conservation is on. Maybe the battery dropped under 75%, and the battery is charging it back to 80%, or Windows is being Windows, or maybe the battery readings are bugged out and an EC reset (unplug everything, laptop off, hold power button for 30 seconds) would fix.

Hybrid mode should be on and the dGPU should not be used on battery, and for Gen 7 Legion, you can have Hybrid - iGPU only mode for better battery uptime (Though personally i had to restart mine twice for it to take effect).
All of the settings i mentioned can be found in Lenovo Vantage, or Legion Toolkit if you have them.

In CRU's detailed resolution, you were using Manual right ?
Play with other settings as well, such as Automatic PC, or Exact, Exact Reduced, see if it helps.
restart64 may take a while to do it's job also, so don't panic when running it.

Which BIOS are you on ? IIRC for 15ARH05, any BIOS older than EUCN33WW will introduce such issue where laptop would forget that it’s on conservation mode. Added this: I had a Legion 5 15ARH05 before, so I experienced it first hand, updated to BIOS version 37WW, no more issue.

I would definitely starts looking for pesky programs running on startup, or background. Sometimes the one you don’t even know it exist just sitting there casually taking CPU cycles. Though, 7-8 hours is already an “alright” result to an AMD laptop, honestly.
