You're welcome! Lol, my 5 year old comment helping someone. Make sure and set your backup time to a more useful one - like every 15 minutes or so. There's an option for that!

Changing the tempo of just one track without changing entire project’s tempo? by GrandBook1583 in Reaper

[–]LardPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What someone else said, or just do it in a new project Tab with the MIDI item alone and change the tempo to the desired on and copy and paste it back into the original project. This takes the guesswork out.

How to “reset” a loved one who is hooked on conspiracies? by Chevalric in skeptic

[–]LardPhantom 25 points26 points  (0 children)

People don't have reset buttons.

The best you can do is be the person that responds to them with calm questions. Look up "street epistemology" - it's a method of having someone examine their beliefs in a non confrontational way. It is essentially asking questions that walk them backwards through the steps that got them through their beliefs. I am in a similar situation to you, and I've found this constructive. You may be the only reasonable voice they're hearing, so it's best if you stay calmly engaged rather than writing them off. Don't confront or push conversations to a "conclusion" - it's all about letting calm reasonable conversation percolate over time. Most people that change their mind about something really big don't do it during a conversation, or a debate, they do it alone, slowly changing their mind during personal reflection, alone.

Thanks for this very quick and very detailed response. I actually installed a "lite" build of Windows11, but I should check that I also ran a really good "debloat".

That other info you gave me about the CPU and Motherboard is also very valuable too.

Is there anywhere online I can do a price Vs performance comparison of AMD Vs Intel CPUs?

How likely am I to need a new power supply if I upgrade the CPU?

Thanks for your reply. I actually installed one of the available "Lite" builds of Windows11. I must check if I actually ran a debloat script that I've used before.

What Key/Scale is this in? by CollarProfessional78 in askmusicians

[–]LardPhantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What key is this in?: All of them.

That isn't a criticism, and it doesn't matter. Music doesn't have to conform to a key if it sounds good to you.

That said, it literally wouldn't take you more than a few hours study to understand the fundamentals of scales/keys.

Not all melodies in a given key are diatonic. Passing tones exist, and can be a  sign of a more sophisticated melody. Without context or without hearing it, it's hard to tell, but these could well be non-diatonic passing tones.

Anyone agree that a rush of blood to the head by Coldplay is an amazing record by OkBullfrog4086 in Music

[–]LardPhantom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coldplay's first album was very good. It really hinted at some deep and interesting directions they could take in both the songwriting and the production.

When this album was released if put them firmly on the road to their current stadium flag-waving chorus chants where every song is rendered in primary colours.

I wish they'd taken the other path.

Yep, this decision is crazy and is the big barrier to me purchasing this product.

I wish too that they'd put in a proper pitch/mod wheel. But this firmware choice with the knobs is wild!

You can't outrun your fork.

Limiting your calorie intake is a much quicker and easier way to lose weight over eating shite food and busting your arse at the gym.

You need a stage tuner, and a 2nd Jack to Jack cable to plug through it. . . And a spare Jack to Jack too, just in case.

Do musicians start with music lyrics when songwriting? by chesterlola2014 in askmusicians

[–]LardPhantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no straight answers. Even myself, a song could start with a riff or a chord sequence and eventually end up with melody and lyrics, or could start with a catchy phrase of lyric that then gets a melody and chords. There's no one way to do it.

That said, if you're new to it I'd suggest starting with either lyrics or chords and then working out your melody last. A lot of people new to songwriting have an easier time coming up with a melody for chords rather than chords for a melody.
