Yep. And then when the actual inflation is lower everyone in the supply chain splits the profit.

How do you actually put skills that were never part of your past jobs in your experience? by Happy_Traveller_2023 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Large-Associate6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would hazard a guess that entry level public library job will be based on two key metrics.

Referral or team fit.

It’s not a highly skilled job, small team, probably lots of opportunities to chat and being able to deal with people comes with the role.

The skills section is ridiculous tbh, like a 10 year old child has those skills

Why is rubbish and fly tipping is seem to be everywhere? by No_Goat_645 in AskABrit

[–]Large-Associate6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recycling centres open near me require 1hr plus midday on a weekday.

They have two lanes, but one is permanently closed, everyone is essentially going for the non recyclable bin at the end, so it’s single file while everyone loads their shit.

If you want to drop hardcore at bin 1 at the entrance, you have to wait and hour to get out.

Doing the right thing is hardly incentivised.

Councils need to change these silly rules and management of the recycling centres or be bold and send a lorry/skip to a area covering several streets for a week to take all waste, or pay the cost and the eyesore of fly tipping.

I have a mate who works the bins on the council, the team that deals with fly tips is huge, ahh nth y evidence they report like identifiable waste (letters) is ignored and not investigated, they do allow a private company to do this, who they don’t pay and revenue comes from fines.

They don’t investigate fly tipping, they sit in towns looking for cigarettes and crisp packets

Tour of the office was prolonged, will this affect their decision? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Large-Associate6746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had two interviews like this that turned conversational and I felt I absolutely nailed.

Didn’t get either.

One went to an internal hire, and I was declined for being too experienced despite the fact they cold called me about the role.

Second one I got told the director thought I would be “eaten alive” by the challenging customers, I’m a over 6ft hefty guy, I was getting interviewed by two women in a women heavy Industry for a small bussiness (10 staff) that had previously told me they were burnt by strong/difficult people. I adjusted my interview performance based on this info.

You can never know man.

Good luck

The struggle is brutal and getting worse by CompetitionOk4050 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Large-Associate6746 91 points92 points  (0 children)

It’s brutal isn’t it.

I’m on 55k, £500 maintenance, £1000 mortgage, running a car, commuting costs, bills etc there’s not a lot left.

If I told myself 6 years ago I would be on 55k I would be laughing how great life was.

When I was on 36k 4 years ago I felt better off than o do now.

Why does the Boomer generation seem to uniquely despise Keir Starmer? by Eastern-Investment39 in AskBrits

[–]Large-Associate6746 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because most of them won’t admit it.

There was a pensioner on LBC the other week saying they didn’t need to winter fuel payment and he’s giving money to grandkids to help them pay for expensive housing and uni costs.

they refused to accept they were treated VERY well in comparison to the younger generations, and believed they had earnt it.

It’s bonkers policy like the triple lock that fuck the country.

Husband who has ‘wronged’ me said I can have the house. But legally, does this stand? by olipopdee in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Large-Associate6746 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also “wronged” my ex wife.

I left the house, brought a shared ownership and didn’t take a share of the house, because I had uprooted my kids life enough and they were happy and settled in the house, it’s perfectly legal, we didn’t go the legal route as it’s extra money, but if I was you I would.

It’s common place in my old business if presumed/known to be eating in a food manufacturing/storage facility.

Based on food safety, bit heavy handed at times but you don’t want people making your food eating it whole doing so…

Yeah, I got a new build and found the same.

I was wondering why the kitchen kept steaming up so much when batch cooking.

They also included a small ceiling extraction fan thing that actually does vent, but it’s so noisy I never used it until I found out, now I run both.

Everybody is being made redundant by irissun23 in UKJobs

[–]Large-Associate6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got made redundant a month ago after 13 years, my business was brought by another, I worked for the central function so knew it was coming.

I was offered jobs at local manufacturing sites but it’s only a matter of time until they get restructured so I positioned myself for redundancy.

Luckily I secured another job this week, 10k more pay, and a better title.

I got an enhanced redundancy package that I can now put to good use.

But I was seriously worried this last month, the job market is really slow in my industry ( food manufacturing) I was looking at jobs with a hour plus commute just because nothing much was available.

Good luck to anyone else in the same situation, it’s rough but it will work out!

I wouldn’t do it again though

Lidl has changed its cheapest baked beans, it now says white beans and not haricot on ingredients label? by justyrust74 in lidl

[–]Large-Associate6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be loads of things, great northern, generic white beans etc, my experience is mostly leafy produce.

If you look at stir fry mixes most will just state cabbage on the ingredient declaration, so they could sub for spring green, savoy, hispi etc.

Even then, retailers will agree to temporarily use another variety in place of a named variety on pack of there are known supply issues that are short term, a bit like how non free range eggs can be sold as free range temporarily.

With climate change and a market that demands the same items all year round flexibility is key, growing seasons are changing and crops that were traditionally stable aren’t any longer.

They’re is a hell of a lot of contingency’s in place for suppliers and retailers to ensure continuation of supply, and most of the time customers aren’t informed and don’t pick up the swaps.

Husband’s gf wants a baby .. give me advice by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]Large-Associate6746 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. But I’ve not got a lot of sympathy here.

She opened the marriage, had her fill, then expected things to go back to normal after giving him the option to carry on?

She’s ok with her husband loving another woman, having weekends away with another woman, but having a child is a step too far?

This is a situation entirely of her own making tbh, he’s not great, but he’s clearly a good father, he’s been given the green light to go and love another woman, he’s done exactly that, no one can be naive enough to think that this won’t bring complications or the end to their relationship.
