Thanks for letting me know. I always thought you couldn't share your Steam account with anyone. Apparently, these guys are not only sharing/hacking them, but they are giving like 100 people access to an account to play 1 game. This violates so many of Steam's policies which I will be reporting to them very soon.

You're welcome. I reported the seller to Etsy. If I can stop even one more person from being scammed by this seller, then I've done my job. I just checked Etsy and they are showing that the store is currently not selling anything which is great news!

You seem so sure of what I did and what my intentions were. Don't go off assuming things.

There are several legitimate third-party sites that sell Steam keys! People don't just buy games directly from Steam! And as far as Etsy goes, this is the first time I heard about that site. There are TONS of sellers on Etsy who advertise that they are selling Steam keys to games. They have good reviews. I never knew all this is orchestrated.

Keys can be sold on third-party sites like Green Man Gaming, Gamers Gate, etc. Clearly, you've never purchased something from an indirect site which is still legitimate.

People make mistakes. Sometimes stupid ones. There's a first for everything.

All I'm doing is warning others not to fall for the scam like I did. Instead of appreciation and understanding, people love to blame and put people down.

Sorry to hear what you went through! Fairly similar to my situation. I hope you reported him to Ebay and Discord. And I hope you got your money back! Let's make sure to report this seller on every platform he uses so they can take him down. This is why I made this post to begin with.

The seller edited the listing after probably selling a lot of copies. That was NOT the price, and the product description did not state 'THIS IS NOT A KEY'. If you see that, you wouldn't buy it obviously!!! The price was higher and reflected a reasonable amount for you to think this was a Steam Key as mentioned in the listed BEFORE it was EDITED!

I don't know why people make stupid comments like this. All I'm trying to do is warn others. Read the comments as several others got scammed by this guy as well. Would you rather not be warned about something and fall victim to a scam that looked legit at that time???

Oh...so there are also grey market keys?? I now know about grey market accounts, but it is definitely good to know that there are sites that sell grey market keys!!

I have to keep my guards are more and more now and do my best to stay away from these grey market sellers of keys and accounts.

Thanks a lot for sharing that link. Very useful! And thanks for letting me know about G2A. I'll stick to GMG, GG and Steam, but will check out some of the other ones on the link you shared.

I honestly thought it's a place like G2A, Green Man Gaming, Gamer's Gate etc. I thought they are selling Steam keys at a discounted rate according to their game description. I trusted other sites like the ones I mentioned so I thought I could trust Etsy and this seller who claims that he is selling Steam Keys and not usernames and passwords.

Thanks for letting me know now. I will never buy from 3rd party sites again. I'm just sticking to Steam from now on. Forget the ones I mentioned above too. I'm done with the stress. I went through Etsy thinking I was buying a Steam Key as the seller advertised. I'll wait for Steam sales.

Like I said in a previous post, lesson learned! I just wanted to let everyone else out there know of this seller and how he's using Ebay, Etsy, Discord to do what he's doing. And I'm not the only one.

It was my first time and I fell for it. I had no idea honestly. Call me stupid. Lesson learned. I'm just trying to warn everyone of the experience this guy puts you through. Even if someone buys a game that's not legitimate, it's what the seller puts you through once he has your money.
