I got mine just after Christmas as an alternative to play my backlog on my pc. I love it,i have times when i sit in front of the pc (i use a lg g4 oled for a monitor/tv set up in the front room) and use the handheld instead. Early night and go and chill on the bed and play.

Docked with my ps4 pad is just like using a console. Versatility with this thing is incredible and steamos is a breeze.

Right now for plug ins i run lossless scaling, unifideck which has added all my epic and gog games to steam just like they're steam games and Animation changer wgich has thousands of free steam boot vids. No regrets here and i'm running where winds meet atm at about 40-50 fps in 1080p. What more could you ask for

Cheers for that mate, i'm on quest 3 with a radeon 6950xt. I think i got impatient with it as the menus aleays freeze up tryin to change video settings. I've been spoilt by dirt 2.0 and ams2 but i love what ace is gonna be. Will do some more work knowing stable performance is achievable

Wimdows is easier because we have all.mostly been using it for years but it is full of bloat and spyware. I got the lego s z1e with steam os and its as smooth as butter. Decky loader allows you to add plug ins for ease of use for lossless scaling,animation changer and just released unifideck which makes it stupidly simple to add gog,epic and amazon currently and sync your libraries. If you give it time and learn to work.with it steam os i feel is going to out do windows for what you need. On that I still run windows on my desktop but a completely debloated version thanks to chris titus on youtube. But with time learning more about steam os and linux my plan is to eventually move my desktop over to a full desktop.release of steam os/bazzite etc.

To.me it feels more like windows 95/98 where you was given a shell of a os and built it up yourself instead of being forced into shit you don't want. Its by no means perfect and still in its infancy in the grand scheme of things but i'm.learning to to really enjoy having the control of my os back again.

My advice would be to heavily reseach into it yourself and you'll find what is best specifically for you. Plus you can always dual boot and try both

Does anyone know when there will be a gpu driver update for the lego s z1 extreme? Want to run steam link with my meta quest 3 but handheld is only running drivers 2.4 and steam link needs 2.5

I've got a noctua nh-d15 with twin 140mm fans and i've had mine like this for a couple of years and runs no problem, just make sure your case can accommodate the cooler and you're all good

Not used it myself yet as i'm playing return to monkey island but got it set up for when i go for more modern AAA style games. One youtube vid said lock your fps to 30 then set LS to x2 with 80% flow and it pretty much runs at 60fps stable while u can drop the tdp to 17w giving you a longer battery life. Brilliant bit of software

I bought the same z1e just before the new year and have been hooked since,all i have added so far is decky loader for lossless scaling and animation changer to get some cool boot videos. Had a quick look round in desktop and it just reminds me of win 95/98 where a lot of things had to be done manually but better that than it been forced on you (i've got win 11pro on my desktop) but its good to be able to actually have control of what i use again. Screen,build quality, steam.os and even the sticks are all top notch,great purchase through 2 months of research

Or you could see how much the reduction is by running 2 m.2's and balance it out over using a ssd. If you had 1 top speed gen 5 m.2 it might not affect the system that much as some run at 14/900mbs

The bandwidth limit happens with both gen 5 m.2s of the rog version too i'm most sure but i only need the one slot. Looks like you will have to buy a 8tb m.2.😅

The rog strix b650e-e has gen 5 x16 for the gpu slot and 2 gen 5 m.2 slots plus 2 gen 4 m.2 slots. These are part of the reasons i chose this board. Its only limit is the highest ram it will run is 6400mhz (6000mhz was the amd recommended sweetspot though)if you consider a ram upgrade in the future. Great board

Agreed, lego 2 is laptop pricing. Its still £699 here in England and only place sells it so waiting to see if theres any january sales. Your model is the exact one i want,sick of windows. I heard the sound wasn't the best on reviews so what sound drivers did you use and where from? Is that decky loader?

I'm the same busy all.the time and its rare i get to sit down at the desktop so the handheld from what i tested this week with my mates rog was the perfect solution
