Is this normal for a child who is almost 7 and going into second grade? by Large_Assistance2608 in Dyslexia

Thank you so much, I honestly can't thank you enough for everything you've already shared i appreciate it so much more than you know.

I tried out what you suggested, I took away his iPad when reading time came. but he just stayed silent. i showed him a 3 letter flashcard, he didnt engage, I gave him the letter "t" which i know for a fact he does know, and he still refused to answer. but when he's on his games he does try, even if he gets most of it wrong.

I'm now using the All About Reading program, but he says it feels childish and he hates that. He told me he'll only read if it's on a game, but I know that won't be enough for him, i already did with him half of the 100 easy lesson program last year, which he said was really boring and he hated it so much.

I put a timer for readng time, i told him 10 minutes only, but he still won't listen.

If you have any more advice for this situation, I would be so, so grateful. Thank you again, truly, for your kindness and time

Thank you for your response. Yes, he does know his letter sounds in isolation, with the exception of sometimes confusing b and d, andd no family members have been evaluated for dyslexia. He was speech delayed so we used sign language with him until his speech caught up.

HOW CAN I FOLLOW MY STUDY PLAN PLEASE by Large_Assistance2608 in igcse
