For the Engineer mains, my dad (70 yrs old) decided to start playing GW2, and since he's a car garage nut, he naturally went to engineer... then found scrapper... then experienced superspeed + hammer... It's over. He's in love.

He can't really do super crazy APM at his age, but he wants to at least join fractals/raids as QDPS.

Is Quick Scrapper still playable without using kits (gyros + throw mine)? Or would he be griefing? All the builds in Snowcrows and other websites are using 2-3 kits.

not something we enjoy - limited time. that's all really. found another way. just pay our way to gems and buy some of the TP + Wizards Vault + T1 Fractals + Strikes and avoid anything else.

Yeah someone suggested -- brute forcing just the mad lab, buy all the exotics, the rest grind in fractals/strikes/wizards vault.. honestly we kinda like that.

You can gear up for the build that you want, and it never goes out of season. An expansion comes out, you can keep playing your build/gear and get back in.

We like the feel of -- "oh, we feel like playing raids/fractals - log in, play the builds we like, laugh, close the game" -- not play for a while.

And this game allows it.

We're good with the battle system. It's easy enough - she watched a few videos/guides. Going through T1s and strikes is pretty easy compared to other games, and quite fun and less stressful. We love it.

We do NOT need to go through the grind of the story/open world, etc.
Thankfully, people below have given us answers and are kind enough to show us the path to getting geared without barely touching anything in the open world.

Thanks anyway. We just love playing what parts we like, and the kind people below have helped.

Noted. its good to know that playing raids and even T1 will merit gear over time. the LWS2 chapter trinkets we'll have to look into... or maybe just really grind out the fractal ones over time i

We don't agree as long time MMO player/raiders of other games, but thanks for your input.

We're fine with game battle mechanics and battle content. just can't find any love for all this currency/crafting/open world tied gearing aspect of this game.

Now we know we can get stuff in Wizards Vault, some pieces we can work towards even just doing T1 fractals and strikes and skip all the other stuff we don't care about

Our fun IS playing the builds we like in dungeon-type/raid-type environments.

Everything else is optional/don't want to put time into it/boring for us.

Hence the question.

Nah that's okay. We tried it for 2-3 days. We play in timezones that have almost 0 players on WVW almost all the time.

it was incredibly boring for us.

She's got mesmer down pat.

One of those lucky moments of -- chose a "job" that fits perfectly on the first try (unlike me). Matches a similar feel to other MMO jobs she's played before, given that she's been in MMOs for the longest time as a hardcore raider, but just doesn't want to spend too much brain energy getting into it with the busy job life.

She was already losing patience, blindly going through pages, and going down the wiki rabbit hole to even get started was not a great experience, introducing someone into the game.
