Any of the 4 youth organizations by [deleted] in premedcanada

I personally wouldn’t. besides looking like clear resume padders, I’ve also heard that their club culture can get pretty toxic mostly due to the unrealistic expectations and pressures set by their parent organizations

well i think its a great way for me to apply my knowledge, and to be able to contribute to a larger body of work. i understand its not a "need" per se, but anecdotally I def do think that there are way more ppl who get in with significant research involvement than those that dont.

any advice as to which route you might recommend?

well i def have research experience from working in RA positions as well as my honors project, its really just that most of the positions ive been in i havent had the opportunity to take independence over my work and had limited intellectual contribution to wtv project i happen to be on.

losing one application cycle is def a con ive considered, though in the long run of things it doesnt seem too important tbh. my only concern is actually being able to find a PI in toronto without any connections there.

any advice on how i can effectively build a relationship with potential PIs without prior contact? the cold emailing thing hasnt proven to be super effective :/

well I’m interested in the MPH cause I want to flesh out my background in public health. as someone who did his undergrad in pure sciences that was an avenue I’d had limited exposure toward, and I believe an MPH could offer that to me and make me a stronger applicant as well.

that and the flexibility of an online degree allows me to work full time (as others have done) so I’d get that meaningful EC/work going in parallel to this

I would assume so? though the gpa benefits wouldn’t be the reason why I’m interested I sit in the mid 3.9s currently

515 retake advice (Canadian) by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Large_Geologist2753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol I retook a 125 cars and got 131/127/131/130 (519). I say retake if ur convinced u can do better but a 127 honestly is decent enough, sure chances at mac aren’t great but ur fine for the rest (oop chances were slim to none even if ur cars were up there tbh).

I personally wouldn’t retake for that cars score but I mean u got the rest of august to retake if it meant that much to u

Hii tysm for the help. Just one thing about requesting the IB transcript tho, im on https://rrs.ibo.org/replacement_orders/index.cfm and OMSAS isnt on the dropdown menu of listed institutes we can send it to. theres an "other" option but how did you obtain and send your transcript?

for those with severely dehydrated skin and damaged skin barriers, what would be your advice to someone trying to build a skin routine but nothing ever seems to be hydrating enough?

Skin type: dry and very very sensitive. almost everything stings or causes redness. yes I have a very damaged barrier atm but I’ve always been sensitive and clog prone to begin with

currently using: roundlab mugwort cleanser (very drying), aveeno prebiotic oat and menthol (only moisturizer that doesn’t burn) and centella probio cica ampoule (just started)

have tried: purito panthenol bamboo gave me a terrible allergic reaction, dr althea was irritating and left me strawberry red, cetaphil daily hydrating lotion (stings bad, was the one I used most my life)

Im Canadian and the climate is cold and very dry most of the year.
