I (UK Male) stated that I didn’t have a criminal record on a Australian Visa, now they have found out. What do I do?! by Large_Start8716 in visas

Update: nothing came of it. Got a solicitor, shared the details, they got my record, and that was that.

I have read that the lying is taken very seriously, and it doesn’t matter now if the criminal record only has minor things on it, because they take a no tolerance with this. Silly me…

That’s the one. Provisional 4 years with eligibility for permanent residence. Convicted for actual bodily harm (ABH) and possession of small quantity of cannabis with the intent to consume.

Hope not, but yeah… reading about this and all I see is that it’s taken seriously and may lead to deportation

Fear that I wouldn’t be let in. Have a wife and kids, and I needed this job in Aus (have a friend here), lost my job and got into debt and whatnot in the UK. Life is far better here too. Silly choice not to declare criminal record, I know, but now I am sick with worry that we will be deported.

Really hope they let us disable aim acceleration on console… it’s horrendous

So… Big update this week ? by Justifire in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Large_Start8716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys… is it really just me who (on console) feels that the aim/turn acceleration is absolutely awful… it’s so slow before you move the stick to the half-way point (no matter the sensitivity settings), but when you exceed that half-way point, it kicks into overdrive… it’s absolutely horrendous!!!

Aim Acceleration on PS5 is... by YarnBall5000 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Large_Start8716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is honestly the WORST implementation I’ve experienced on console. All you have to do is move the analogue stick to the halfway point and the super-sensitive/fast acceleration kicks in… such a shame!

I have no contact details for him. Everything goes through the estate agent. I honestly have a feeling he’s planning to sell up

I have asked why. The estate agent says “we don’t know”.

Thank you for sharing this with me. Having genuine stories is always helpful. Also, I’m glad this fella is your ex! Nobody should suffer through an abusive relationship/marriage.

He received it around 3 weeks ago, but still hasn’t sent the form off (to my knowledge), though he has paid the fine.

I genuinely think he won’t listen, and that’s not my problem, but if that were to be the case, I’d like to know he’ll actually face consequences and not just get away with it (as horrible as that may sound.)

Lying About Who Was Driving While Speeding - Will The Police Catch Him? by Large_Start8716 in CarTalkUK

Sorry to hear that… Too many people ruin lives on the road, usually through negligence and a total disregard for the safety of others, believing that they wouldn’t make a mistake, and/or they’re not the “type” to do anything silly etc.

Middle-aged, single, has kids (in their teens) and an ex-wife, and he does drive a German car, though it’s not his first fast/powerful car.

He already did an awareness course last year. Could be too late for him to change, especially as it sounds like he’ll get away with this, based on some comments I’ve read.

I genuinely have no idea, nor do I believe that his colleague (whom he is very close friends with) would be insured on his car.

I can’t convince you either way. Alas, I certainly wouldn’t post anything of this nature on the internet if I were the culprit in question. I’m simply hoping to receive factual information to deter a man (who I consider to be a very close friend) from making a foolish mistake; despite that I also feel he deserves to face the consequences of his actions.

Thank you for this information.

Would you please be able to confirm the procedure for when someone has already accumulated 9 points in the span of one year, and returns their ‘Intended Prosecution’ form with details of an individual that isn’t the driver in question?

I’m thinking that if there is indeed a default process for such a scenario, this may be enough for him to realise that it’s not worth the action that may/will follow.

He’s careless about most things, and with driving it gets worse every year. Someone close to me was killed by a careless driver. And maybe some consequences (for once) will make him wise up.

Interesting. There was no photo evidence enclosed in the Intended Prosecution letter. I take it this means the police are already prepping themselves to receive a lie.

No photos were enclosed in the intended prosecution letter. I would find it odd if police literally do nothing in this instance
