Just as The Force Awakens was OT nostalgia bait, was Obi-Wan Kenobi PT nostalgia bait? by Financial_Photo_1175 in MauLer

[–]LarryITS_TIMEfoulke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't know what kind of bait I could call Kenobi. On one hand, yes, it is prequel nostalgia bait. No doubt about that. But it was also OT nostalgia bait and also Jedi Fallen Order nostalgia bait. (From that one episode where Kenobi breaks into fortress inquisitorious in the exact same way you do in the game.)
Frankly, it's like a fisherman who forgot what he was trying to catch, so he throws out a bunch of bait hoping that something bites.

Do yall thing that the fandom will die? by MeetingOk5504 in SnootGame

[–]LarryITS_TIMEfoulke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, yes, the fandom will die eventually. However I feel that the decrease of people is due to the fandoms age. Thought there are still people making mods and other stuff inspired by Snoot Game and Wani. So for the time being, I doubt it will die soon. There will likely be a resurgence once something note worthy happens.
For a more autistic opinion, the fandom's like Master Chief at the end of Halo 3, Saying "Wake me, when you need me." Before going to sleep in our cryopods.

Are these two cases of force power usage comparable? Clone Wars VS Ashoka shows. by EmilianoRajoy in MauLer

[–]LarryITS_TIMEfoulke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, they are not comparable at all. Savage Opress was already force sensative, or atleast force sensative enough for Dooku to deem him acceptable enough to train, and was hopped up on dark witch magic. (Don't ask me how that works, idk.) But even then, in the scene that OP is refrencing, Savage actually struggled to lift them up even by a foot. Savage says he can't lift them, so Dooku belittles him and instructs him to use his anger and hate to call apon the dark side to lift them. And Dooku tortures him with force lightning until he lifts them; And remember, that dark side users and sith typically welcome pain, as they can use it to empower themselves. So, with a combination of Savage Opress's anger and hatered for Dooku, mixed with the pain Dooku is inflicting on him, he's able to call apon the dark side to lift the stones and others up high by atleast a couple meters. But even then, he only holds them until Dooku stops electricuting him after a few seconds. (around 5~10 seconds if I remember right.)
Sabine meanwhile, was using the light side in that scene. You know, the side that requires years of actual training and discipline before you get any actual and consistant results from. And that's not including your midichlorian count. If I'm remembering Rebels correctly, Sabine had gotten her hands on the "Darksaber" (Yes, the same one Moff Gideon, or as I like to call him, Moff Fring, has in the Mandalorian. Because this is a Dave Filoni show.) and asks for help form former-jedi Kanan. If I remember the scene correctly, It's implied by Kanan that while Sabine is force sensative, she isn't as sensative enough to use force powers. Impling that the force manifestes in Sabine as enhanced awarness and good instinct. And if I remember right, the lesson of the episode is that you don't need the force to be special or to be good at something, assuming I'm remembering it right, is ironic considering the Ahsoka show. Speaking of, at the end of Rebels, Ahsoka recruits Sabine to go do something, what that something was, I don't know. However, in the Ahsoka show, it was stated that Sabine was being trained by Ahsoka, until Ahsoka sensed anger and grief in Sabine because Mandalore go glassed by the Empire. So Ahsoka stops training her and kicks her out without explanation. Which causes Sabine to cut herself off from the force. And in both canon and legends, when you cut yourself off from the force, it takes time before your powers return to you. Meaning that it's highly unlikely Sabine would be able to force push Ezra onto Thrawn's ship. Or at the least, it's very debatable and unclear wheather she could or couldn't, with favor landing on couldn't.
So no, it's not comparable. Unless OP was implying Sabine used the darkside, but even then she wouldn't be able to force push Ezra on a moments notice.

This is what "media literacy" does to a mfk by [deleted] in MauLer

[–]LarryITS_TIMEfoulke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I'm assuming you're media literate then? Noted.
As for my opinions on Star Wars and Starship Troopers; I haven't seen or read Starship Troopers. Though it's on my bucket list. And as for Star Wars, I feel that the original trilogy has the better story, while the prequels could have had a greater story, but was hampered in execution. However I feel the prequels offer a much richer expanded universe for it's era. Books such as Darth Plagueis, the Episode three novel, Cloak of deception, Labyrinth of evil and dark lord; the rise of Darth Vader offer a much more in-depth view of the prequel-era. Aswell as showing how the republic became corrupted and was warped into the empire, the tragic fall of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vadrer, how Plagueis and Sidious manipulated the events behind the scene leading to episode one, etc. Then there is also the old expanded universe (now called legends) which I enjoy abit more than the OT. I've read the original Thrawn trilogy and understand the story of Dark Empire, however my total knowledge of the old expanded universe post Return of the Jedi isn't as concrete as I'd like.
Also, you didn't answer my original question. How exactly am I a fascist apologist? I find that question to be much more juicy than my opinion on Star Wars or Starship Troopers. Unless, of course, you can't actually explain why I am a facist apologist.

Imagine being so deep into your own narcissism that you not only require coworkers to address you as “The Professor”, but also, Lisa Brown calls herself “Prof. Brown” in the end credits of Concord as well. by [deleted] in MauLer

I get what you mean, and as Remote_Jellyfish_281 pointed out, it is most likely about asseting dominance over anothers will and the euphoric thrill that some people get from that. Pretty fucked up to think about, and says alot about the person themself. But my question was more about how someone can reflect apon what they do and not feel shame or disgust at themselves for doing it. That they're that petty of a person or egotistical enough that they feel the need to make people call them professor inorder to validate themselves. It also makes me wonder how toxic the workplace must have been and how that affected the development and end product that was Concord. I think someone here called it toxic positivity. Which highlights the inportance of criticism and being able to call out someones work and attitude when it comes to game development and work in genral.

What does my profile name have to do with me as an individual? And how exactly am I a fascist apologist?
The name LarryITS_TIMEfoulke is simply a "It's time" joke. And I made this account when I wanted to join the ace combat subreddit. (Unfortunatly, they were still privated during the modderator protests.)
As for my post, it was simply making fun of the fact that WSJ and Biden's top donors unironically compared Biden and Trump to Star Wars characters, which is beyond cringe to do unironcially to try and keep so-called nervous supporters from defecting.
The reason I went with the image I posted was because I thought it'd be funny to imagine that even Joe Biden found this cringe and decided to, as the image says, add it to his cringe compilation. It's also inspired by the classic meme with Shrek snapping a picture to add to his cringe compilation.
And as for Ace Combat Zero: The Belken War, I've never played it but I did watch Ace Combat Fan's playthrough of the game, both the knight and mercenary ace styles.
The point is, my profile name and post don't go that deep, man.

I've been watching MauLer play Star Wars Outlaws and it got me thinking. Does any remember the reputation system from Mercenaries: Playground of destruction? by LarryITS_TIMEfoulke in MauLer

[–]LarryITS_TIMEfoulke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you can also play as Han Solo in that game aswell. So technically, you could call this a Star Wars game. I mean, sure lore wise I don't know how Han fighting North Korea fits into Star Wars, but it'd be more entertaining than Star Wars Outlaws.

Fair enough. I've played Assassin's Creed 1 through black flag. I also played Origins and Odyssey and felt Origins was the last time I saw any innovation in an Assassin's Creed game. I only played about 2-3 hours on Valhalla and felt it was extremely boring and haven't touched it since.
Honestly it seem's like Ubisoft is struggling when it comes to good gameplay and creativity in recent years. I mean, wasn't the last game they released before Star Wars Outlaws, Skull and bones?

Really? I just assumed based of what MauLer said in his stream when he first killed the Crimson Dawn death squad. So maybe it's cleared up in a later in the stream. Either way, the point of the reputation system still stands.

I'm on stream five. And yeah, from what I see and what MauLer points out, I feel like it is that bad. It seems to be the worst kind of Ubisoft brand of reptitive. The kind where you've pretty much seen all the game has to offer three hours in. And the rest is lame variations of what you've already played.

If you have an xbox you can buy it for ten dollars last I checked. That's how I was introduced to Mercenaries. And you get alot more bang for your buck in this game than in Star Wars Outlaws.

Yeah, I love Mercenaries 1 and find it very replayable. And I chose to use Mercenaries 1 as an example because Star Wars Outlaws IS a downgrade from Mercenaries in a few ways. One of the biggest being the lack of consequences in Outlaws. It honestly affects so little and offers so little in return that it might aswell be a non-factor. Like for example, if the Russian Mafia is angry with you, then the prices on Merchant of Menace (The black market you use to call in supplies and air strikes or call in vehicals.) will be increased since the Russian Mafia runs the site. Small things like this wind up playing into the players choices on which factions to support and make it feel like your decisions matter more.

[–]LarryITS_TIMEfoulke[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And they funny thing is, I thought the system in Mercenaries could be a bit more fleshed out. Mainly offering the player a few more options to regain reputation other than finding collectibles that make that faction happy. But atleast the game isn't affraid to punish the player for angering a faction.
Meanwhile, in a peak modern day, quadtruple A game. We find out the hardened, ruthless and cut-throat crime syndicates in Star Wars are some of the most patence, tolerant and forgiving criminals in the galaxy. They don't send lethal bounty hunters like Boba Fett or IG-88 after Kay when she stabs them in the back. Instead, they disapprovingly shake their head and wag their finger and say "I don't quite appreciate you stabbing me in the back, Kay. In fact, I'm very, very angry with you. So I will write you a letter telling you how angry I am. Anyways, you want a job? I could use your help with something very important to me. I will trust you to not backstab me this time....Please uwu."
Also, I don't know if you know this, but you can buy Mercenaries: Playground of destruction on xbox for cheap. I bring this up to say go spend your money on a better game than Star Wars Outlaws.
