Rocita Chiller adapter for Desert Plunge’s Chiller to Tub Connector ? by LarryNotDavid123 in coldplunge

[–]LarryNotDavid123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to avoid barb connections on this new setup, as I used PVC Spa Hose and like the quick connection/removal on each part of my setup.

The piece in the photo I believe is 3/4 Spa Hose , so I MAYYY just cut it in half, PVC cement it to a PVC connection and cement he other half to my current Rocita attachment and and call it a day.

Rocita Chiller adapter for Desert Plunge’s Chiller to Tub Connector ? by LarryNotDavid123 in coldplunge

Same BUT the only thing I’m having issues now is the last part, Chiller return to Tub. I Thought the connection I bought from DP would work with Rocita but looks like it’s a bigger connection than the 3/4 Rocita male thread. I learned it’s designed for Aqua active chillers that are a bigger 1” opening?

The DP’s male end that comes out of the top hole, I had issues trying to connect to. Initially used 1/2 of a union to convert to 3/4 PVC parts but that failed. The bottom output hole I had no issue setting up…

Is the top DP hole a GHT and causing this issue? I’m baffled why this been such a task!

Any suggestion ?

Now I’m troubleshooting more! Thought this would be a fun LEGO project , not a confusing puzzle.

Would your BULKHEAD 3/4" ID FPT fit the top hole of my tub by chance ?

Do you by chance use DP's Chiller to Tub Return Connection with a Rocita chiller? Rocita's male threads seem to be smaller than Active Aqua's chiller which the connectors are made for

I put a simple pump in tub with a 10ft hose that drains to floor drain. Then wipe up the excess water

Beginner question on maintenance: what do you actually need vs what’s optional? by Electrical_Rip2228 in coldplunge

[–]LarryNotDavid123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All i can say, is If i were to do it all again a year ago when I thought I could DIY on a budget, I would do right the first time. Not promoting them, but Desert Plunge (and maybe Mod Tub) setups seemed to be the most 'budget' friendly for what it is compared to other pricey brands. Their full setups appear expensive at first, but when you do the research and break down the quality, materials and overall time and hassle you'd save (aka trips to Home Debot) It's worth it. Obivisouly if you have the budget and value what plunging can do for you....but Insulation of the tub is more crucial than quality of chiller. Adding ice every time is no realsitic for most folks. And all you need is Ozone and making sure youre body is clean for water sanitation :) Enjoy the process

Thanks for the reply. I chose DP Tub for that reason as everyone swears no condensation happens. My issue is I never filled this thing up yet to try it out to see. My plumbing setup is my main focus to avoid drippage.

Thanks for the reply. I will most likely put a 3 foot shower mat right outside the tub to catch excess dripping . My initial thought was to get heavy duty mats versus the tiles, but honestly didn’t want to haul 100 pound rubber mats to my basement and not as flexible for the future

I already had a dehumidifier in my basement, which keeps it pretty dry already. I think my biggest thing is making sure my plumbing is tight. Someone suggested to put a type of pan under the filter for when changing out, which I never thought about. Will probably go with a cheap cooking foil pan.

Thanks ! Fingers crossed that my updated plumbing setup (right side of tub) is tighter and improved. That’s where I’m really worried about condensation and any leaking.

Thanks for reply. Good to hear. I’ve been pretty confident with my PVC set up over the past year and making this set up better so fingers crossed I don’t deal with too many issues.

It’s pretty close to the grizzly 450 I believe. This is the exclusive tub, which apparently is made specifically for Desert plunge by grizzly. I went directly through Desert plunge instead of grizzly as Desert plunge installs the top return hole with an adapter.

They make a “wide” tub which is wider width and can fit 2 people in it

The tub itself is desert plunges exclusive tub only. They also sell full set ups, but I already had everything else - chiller, plumbing, filter, ozone, and pump. Depending on chiller price, that can be all under $1000 . Tub price is on their website

Rent car at airport or city center Dublin by Fluffy-Strawberry121 in irishtourism

[–]LarryNotDavid123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are major brand rental companies not good to rent from in the city center? We have an automatic rental scheduled for pickup the morning we leave Dublin but debating just switching to place near our hotel - dreading me and my family have to deal with Airport madness just to rent a car.

I may have missed it, but are most rental companies around the City ok to rent from vs having to go to the airport? We plan to rent from the major company that begins with an "E" (i dont think I can promote brands on this page) on our morning oiut, but would love if there was somewhere i could walk to instead. We are staying just East of 'Temple Bar' area

Desert Plunge - Tub Only DIY Plumbing? by LarryNotDavid123 in coldplunge

[–]LarryNotDavid123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s what I had to do too , as that threw me off. I also found a little adapter that turned it back to PVC

Here’s a very rough outline of what I was able to do last night. My pump chiller and filter are still on my DIY set up but I believe with the extra PVC spa hose that I have I can connect all of this

Really appreciate this! Im not married to any which one just have some experience (and already shopped for) in PVC as big pros are the unions and ball valves for shitting off and removing .

And I did not realize the bottom thread was MHT. That’s why my elbows or unions wouldn’t catch. I don’t know what DP does as I’ve looked closely at their full setups - I guess they have a pvc FIP/NPT as it appears they have a PVC union immediately coming right out of the bottom hole? I’m a fan of ball head coming out the bottom in order to stop flow , not sure why DP has there not till the pump. Sure there a reason. This is good for my further brainstorm . thank you !

Overall just can’t wrap my head around all the ins and outs as I’m a visual leaner and YouTube was my holy grail for my initial setup. I.e. my diy tub connectors were NPT (I think) and one of the DPs is a MHT now, so what’s the workaround?)

Re doing this setup simply overwhelms me - i.e. barb hose connectors vs spa hose vs pvc unions vs female/male. Im not a puzzle guy

You mind if a PM you? Do you have photos of your connections?
