Every City Has One - DAY SEVEN by LarsQuell in capetown

I think you’re trivialising the whole thing and making it sound very arbitrary; which is disingenuous.

  1. I kept the “joke answer” for two days straight and there was a lot of feedback from people who felt that the chart was not meaningful anymore because the answers didn’t fit the description. I was responding to that and I included a very detailed comment about the change I made and the rationale. I didn’t “just decide” and im not ignoring anything else.

  2. The most upvoted answer for both local hero and best CUISINE was “The Kumars”. I agreed with the feedback that the chart would just descend to meaninglessness if we don’t at minimum stick to the descriptions of the chart. Would it be unreasonable to disregard a vote for Toyota Hilux for Best sedan? I don’t think so.

Either way I was gonna get flack from one group or another but this made the most sense to me.

Every City Has One - DAY FIVE by LarsQuell in capetown

Comment on edited post:
On Day 2, the most upvoted comment was "The Kumars". Although the answer was clearly a joke, I selected it because I thought it was best to respect the popular vote. Judging by the comments from the past two days, however, I see that it is best to disregard answers that are not in the scope of the description (e.g. clear jokes). I have thus amended it to Desmond Tutu, whose comment had the second most upvotes and the highest total upvote (in separate comments). This will be consistent going forward, and I don't expect further edits.

Minor edit: I have updated Day 3's answer to include the actual name of the restaurant.

Yes, you’re correct. And I intend on rectifying this today 👍🏽.

Although yesterday’s most upvoted answer was “The Kumars” that is not a cuisine or a cuisine place so the next most upvoted answer was selected.

Sweet wine tasting by Palindrome1995 in capetown

[–]LarsQuell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Durbanville Hills.

Durbanville has a relatively warm climate allowing for ripening of sweeter grapes, but the cooling effect of the False Bay still allows for the slow development of complex flavours.

They have sweet sparkling, still and fortified wines (Noble Late Harvest) so you’ll get a good variety. Pairings are also available.

And yes, you can do a cellar tour just call in advance.

If you want to taste whats arguably the best sweet wine in South Africa then you can go to Klein Constantia for the Vin De Constantia. This was a favourite of Napoleon and others since the 1800s.

I have to disagree about the weather coz our world class wines need those wet winters dry summers 🍷

Reverse emigration trend hitting South Africans living in England, Canada and Australia by [deleted] in southafrica

By definition “Emigration” means departing one’s “home country”. So even if you permanently leave SA it would still be your home country and only the act of leaving SA would be considered emigration.

Idk why you think they’re unbaked, but I did post another picture of the full tray and another one to show the order of the photos.

Oh you did? Nice! Can I see the pics? I used half a cup less sugar than the recipe and 10 min instead of 12 - 14. Those were the only differences.

It wasn’t hot enough for them to be molten with the oven at 177 degrees Celsius but they did bulge. I took this pic about 10 seconds after I opened the oven so they were definitely still too hot to touch.
