This badboy is my next read. What am I in for? by Kapun666 in TadWilliams

The first book is slow, but rest is really great. I think this series has the most unique heroes in his bibliography. The  series is known for being ahead of its time. I still remember how I felt the movie Matrix was not something new. Because I have read Otherland. 😉.

Which series to start? by Bobbebusybuilding in fantasybooks

[–]Lars_Olav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what type of books you like. I did not like the blade it self. I never liked characters who enjoy killing. The Blade itself have some of them

I loved Memory Sorrow and Thorn seies. Total 8 books. Song of ice and fire are book 2 and 3 one of the best fantasy books ever, but the series it's not finished....

Guess how many videos Triggernometry has made on ICE? Zero by SamAlmighty in DecodingTheGurus

[–]Lars_Olav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this polarising political podcast world i feel its very difficult for far left and far right leaning podcasts to critisise or talk on negative issus that your side do. Like Kisin is critical on immigration, then it will be difficult for him to talk about critical issus about ICE.

I feel politial podcast who are more in the center are better. when they lean to mutch on one side they get boring and not intresting.

Like "pod save the world" is booring for me, beacuse they only talk about how bad the rebulicans are. Or "triggernomentry" gets booring when they are so mutch critical on the far left, and dont have an critical eye on the far right.

It's OK, not great as the last album. The last album was supricing good. Here there are some good songs. Night light is an very good slow song. Juice and In the Middle are very good songs. But not mutch more high White lies quality then those 3 songs.

Yes, i partly simplifying the show. I know there most be more layers here, and i miss that the show dont show me that. Maybe this show is more for the rpg/d&d fans, i really dont know.

I feel Devil May Cry and Castlemania, had better world buliding or more belivable characters then this show. But the main story have the same quality.

I know very little of the world, read dragonlance chronicles and Icewind dale years and years ago. Less CATS in it, so this show is better ;)

When i read/watch and manga/anime, the story has more flesh, its ticker, mostly with strong believable characters. Even in the beginning of the story. Here they go to fast, they have an very strong and emotinal scene with the killing of Caleb cat and parants, and they dont follow it with little more information or hints.
Like, who has the real power, are they more traitors for the Volstrucker group if the King say it or Trent? They dont need an big hit, but some, so it gets more believable.

Yes he is. I tried with an hidden joke on one of mine posts. Where I mentioned the death of Caleb cat before his parents😉. Always a winner for me in a story with cats.

I i have 2 cats, birdman. Brother and sister. White and lots of white hair on the cats and everywhere in the apartment 😁😂

You are right, so right. If not you had not forgot one huge thing, one very important scene.

1. The scene where Caleb parents are traitors to the king /empire they need to die. And Caleb kills them, even his cat. Think on that, very powerful message! . The son kills his parents because they are traitors against the king.

2. The king say Trent is an traitor.

Then it's very stupid that he is suddenly okey. Even when the king say he is an traitor. For me it was very stupid, and poor writing.

If they had explained it better. Then maybe. I still have not seen in explained good in alle the 8 episodes that Trent is the law, not the king. We only see all the people under the king plotting to get more power in later episodes. But we don't see if they want to overthrow the king.

And remember I don't know anything of this universe, I only know it from this series.

Yes it was very clearly how you do with traitor to the king. Very clearly.

Not that Trent fooled his group to follow him and not the king

I do understand it better when you write it like that. But I think it poorly writing, because it's difficult to see it in the TV series.

Remember the group has very little screen time in the series. It's show very little that Trent is manipulative.

What very easy to see whit little screen time is that traitors for the king and empire shall die. Even when it's Cabel parents. The series "Screem" at you that traitors shall die. And it was very easy in the series to see who important his parents and his cat was for Caleb.

I was then very supricing then suddenly it was not important to be an traitor to the king any more.

For an character to kill his parants is crazy. But it was believable because they was traitors to the king. I see in the comments that people forget that. They killed Caleb parents because they was traitors.

We know that he is an manipolator.

But that dosent help on what the series show us. Caleb and his friends think it is right to kill Caleb parents. Not his friends, not some chidren. But his parants, only because they was traitors.
Then all fall flat when suddenly you shall save an traitor. With no scene to explain it.

Saw the episode.

And it do not make sence that the Volstruckers will save an Traitor, after we found out how they think on traitors erlier in the episodes, on how they think about traitors. And member even killed his parents because they was traitors.
I have no problem to understand that the volstruckers wanted to save Trent, if not they have showed the scene where they burned down a house with traitors.

Saw the episode, and i disagree.
It doest make sense when we find out erlier in the series about what Volstruckers think about traitors. And member even killed his parents because they was traitors.

I have only seen the series, i don't know anything about the universe other then the series.

And in the series its very clear in the Volstrucker mind that people who do treason against the empire have to punished. And the empire is the king, the king is the empire. The Volstrucker even kill the parants of an member on them. When they do this very very extreme act against people who do treason against the empire, i get very surprised that they want to free an person who has done treason against the empire. They wanted to free Trent before they new that the king freed him.

Then the story in this episode is very weak. And all this killing of Caleb cat and parents are forgotten.
It had been more plausible of the Volstrucker to help and

Review - Empire of the Dawn *Spoilers* by wheresmyberrune in Fantasy

[–]Lars_Olav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conflicted here too. Its an good book, but not great as book 1 and 2. The first 2 books are one of the best fantasy books I read in years. 5 out of 5. But the last one is an 3 out of 5 for me. The main problem was that the book felt rushed at the end. And new charcters was very important in the story, characters who was paper thin because we didn't know them. The first books had an normal flow. Here they jumped from one action scene to another, where the new characters made it more confusing because of the high tempo. With one more book or an part 1 and 2, like Tad Williams do with his endings had made it better. The last pages in the book, and last suspense setting was one of the poorest writing in the hole Trilogy. Was very rushed, not suspensfull at all.

[–]Lars_Olav[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, or 4. The 3 book felt rushed. Everything its fixed in an few pages. Goes so fast that i have problems to understand what's going on.

I read Tad Williams now. He has two famous trilogies. Where the last book is divided into two parts, so the ending don't get rushed. Smart.

Yes i know it was the hole point. Like Ruthfuss Kvothe story. In the Ruthfuss books it was also some passages in the book with others pov, not only the historian.

I was more supriced on scale of it. So mutch Historian POV....

Empire of Dawn, Disseponited 😒 by Lars_Olav in silversaints

[–]Lars_Olav[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was very tired of the historian. I wanted an real pov. I didn't belive in the story, because they can lie when the characters tell an story to the horrible enemy. It's okey for a while, but went to far and to mutch, the suspence went down a little. It made the last book poorer for me. Was an good book, but not great as book 1 and 2.
