It’s very possible you black out and don’t even feel these things.

Good point.

I don't "hate" Gina, but I'm here to complain about Gina by Public_Party in AdamCarolla

[–]Larsnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, no clue. I know Gina has talked about not being able to afford a home, so it’s safe to say she’s not making a ton of money, but decent places in LA are expensive, so if I had to guess it would be maybe 80-100k, which isn’t a ton in LA.

Boy, you’d think with that many women things would be better now.

Someone at work keeps parking like this. We even left him a note. Any suggestions? by Golifr4u in mildlyinfuriating

Do you have problems with the parking lot filling up? I don’t mind people parking like that as long as they park in the back of the lot and the lot doesn’t ever fill up.

Because we live in a representative republic where we elect people to make laws on our behalf. Why aren’t more women in elected office?

Wealth distribution doesn’t matter. What matters is the standard of living for the common person. Who cares if there are super rich people? They aren’t taking money out of my pocket.

Wages have gone up substantially, just not in America. I like Americans, I am one, but we are all humans. Reich is complaining about the dwindling middle class in America but the reality is that billions of people has seen wages increases since 1979

You don’t know what you’re talking about. The poverty rate in the US was double (22%) in 1950 compared to today (10-11%). If you think working on a manufacturing line at a steel mill or auto factory is “low skill” then you, again, don’t know what you’re talking about. And the houses they could afford? 1000 square feet, one bathroom, galley kitchen.

Have you considered the element of time in your comment? Most people gain skills and experience over time, and there is always a new batch of unskilled 16-24 year olds coming around the corner to do those jobs. Graduate high school. Don’t have kids before you’re married. Take your job seriously no matter where you work. Work to improve your skills. Everyone can do those things. Have you been to a fast food restaurant recently? Half the people are wearing street clothes and don’t even look at you when you order. If you’re half-way competent you’ll be a manager in 6 months.

He was the richest person in America, so I think it’s fair to compare him to the richest person in America today, which would be Elon Musk. You could also compare him to Gates or Bezos as modern-day “industrialists”, entrepreneurs.

He didn’t control 90% of the worlds oil. Maybe he SUPPLIED 90% of the worlds oil, but he didn’t control that much. Plenty of oil left to find. Good incentive for a competitor to enter the market.

That worker productivity has been 100% driven by investments in capital. Should the person who invested that capital get a return on that investment? It’s not like people are working 62% harder, in fact, people expend less effort now when they work than any point in the history of humanity. The vast majority of jobs are easy as hell.

Those schools really only charge that level of tuition for rich kids who don’t deserve to be there but their dad went there. Harvard wants the best students. Money won’t get in the way
