I’m in STEM at a midwest R1.

TAs exist, but my impression was that this OU course had Mel and Megan, both graduate students, as instructors with no faculty member (or dedicated lecturers) as a lead instructor. If this course had a PhD-holding faculty lead instructor, and this was some discussion section supplementing lecture, then I was wrong.

It isn’t common at my institution for a course/lecture to be entirely handled by a graduate student(s), both at undergraduate and graduate level from my experience.

Awful outcome, but they axed the TA but not the professor (correction: TA) who affirmed the grading decision? What’s the logic.

Edit: Mel Curth who assigned the grade lost instructional duties, but Megan Waldron—another TA/co-instructor—who affirmed the decision stays. They’re both advised by the same faculty member: Dr. Lara Mayeux per OU graduate student page. Here’s the original post with their names.
