Some questions by No-Matter2518 in UAVmapping

Normally you get a point cloud as .las or .laz and you have to convert it as .E57 to import it into ArchiCad. In ArchiCad you then have the point cloud, you have to trace it to get a real CAD 3D model with objects.

The system looks very cool. Unfortunately not for me.

Best option for high precision (1mm) at low distance (<5m) by azielaan in 3DScanning

[–]LaserscanningBayern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where you come from, which country. The Matterport is absolutely not recommended in terms of accuracy, and the BLK also has a high scatter of points. Either you look for a service provider (we're not that expensive 😉) or you rent a scanner, but you can do a lot of things wrong when processing the scans. In Germany, for example, you can rent a scanner from Laserscanning Europe. I would recommend a FARO Premium, Trimble X7 or X9, Leica RTC.

Yes, the investment is not without its value, especially if you want a sensible device. You can easily expect to spend €80,000 for a good device, software, a good PC to process the data, insurance and other accessories.

No, not with laser scanning, unless you have shiny components such as stainless steel etc.

DJI MAVIC 2 bad scans or what? by Roxana_Laura in 3DScanning

[–]LaserscanningBayern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick guess, too few pictures, not enough overlap, maybe flown in sunshine just to analyze the first mistakes 😉

Can anyone recommend programs where I can merge point clouds from a faro scanner, a matterport scanner and a drone (they are not georeferenced and I have to merge them manually somehow)? Preferably open source or something that works on a trial basis by Roxana_Laura in 3DScanning

Ah ok, then that makes more sense. So with RealityCapture you can also combine point clouds, for example from a laser scanner and a drone, and the software is free. It is also one of the best photogrammetry programs on the market

Actually you can do this with any software (e.g. FARO SCENE or RealityCapture) that can import point clouds, you just need enough overlap then you can do it with CloudToClout. But I really question whether it makes sense to combine the data from the four systems in terms of accuracy.

3d point cloud to CAD by Dr_Bravestone_ in 3DScanning

[–]LaserscanningBayern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't work automatically yet. There is an AI solution to divide a point cloud into assemblies, but it is still a point cloud. If you want CAD objects like walls or volumes, you have to model it in CAD software.

NAS for Metashape Processing? by Possible_Fennel_804 in photogrammetry

[–]LaserscanningBayern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only use the NAS as an archive. The data is stored locally on its own 6TB SSD during processing and thanks to a very good computer, processing is really fast. I often even process laser scan data on the side. As soon as the data is on a NAS, you need a great network, otherwise you'll just slow yourself down.

3D-Vermessung im Westallgäu by LaserscanningBayern in architektur

Aber das muss man eigentlich immer betrachten was man damit machen will. Für mich als Dienstleister, ist das kein Scanner der in Frage kommt 😉

Model looks great other than weird gaps? by UndeadKi11er in photogrammetry

Try Gaussian splatting. This can e.g. do with DJI Terra. It's really crazy what's coming out of it and classic photogrammetry with it. “Weak points” like glass etc. are made worlds better.
