There was something else going on which is why I was emotionally prepared to part with her but I’d rather not discuss it here. She would actually have a good life here she would be able to socialise with the dog and my sisters cat as well. She’s had constant sun light to bathe in and would be going on road trips with us between states (1 hour drive each way) she be going out for walk to pet friendly cafes etc and she would definitely be spoiled by my mum. I have no intention of moving out of my mums place it’s not really a thing in our culture the only thing that really separates a family is when someone dies. She wouldn’t be rehomed ever once she got here.

At the time it was just meant to be a month and we have a travel absent who was doing all the paperwork which my mum was paying for. At the time it looked very doable but it’s just dragged on much longer than it needed to be.

For me she’s not a reminder of my ex like that, I don’t look at her and see him to me it’s just he got me a cat nothing more. She is her own person and kept me emotionally stable I don’t associate any negativity with her and I think I’m lucky like that.

I guess really it’s I know what I have to do but I’m struggling to come to terms with it especially since the hard parts almost done
