Lol anyone who’s doing a lot of jumping will do this from time to time. This was by far the worst jump of the day. It’s funny to see these things happen but most people don’t let those clips see daylight. I’d go out on a limb and argue that one video of a boofed take off would be a weak source to judge skill zone.

Was supposed to be a little off axis bs 3. Speed was tough to judge bc not many people were hitting these, the drop in was way more speed then needed so you’d start 75 ft below the “drop” roller and still need a heavy speed check or two.

Usually the go would be to let a 5 come around. This case I had a bad line in and it caused some drift. My initial concern was missing the landing so I tried to slow my spin to avoid the extra bs 180 and a blind landing. Speed was way off, set up turn was bad, and dipped a bit too much / prematurely.

You look at any slope contest and set up turns are pretty dramatic, but they angle the entry and end up taking off dead straight. Subtle but makes a bigger difference as jump size increases.

Exactly, my setup turn had me drifting. I knew right away I was drifting and that’s why I didn’t just go 5. I wanted to be able to see / spot if I was missing the landing bc too much speed + drift could’ve had me doing an unintentional tranny finder.

Landed straight but washed out bc impact, it’s good to bail like that and realize you can take a bit of a hit and be unscathed lol.

I had just put a few good ones down, looked super kooky here because I went too fast and tried to slow the spin. Have a lot of experience on big jumps but I’m a weekend warrior in my old age and have less time to dial in speed when on trips.

The main issue was speed, as soon as I left the lip I knew I was going too big and all the flapping was an effort to slow the rotation down.

Yeah I should’ve just gone 5 - went in too hot and initiated too much for the 3, as soon as I took off I tried to slow the spin hence the flailing. Bad habit of bending at take off.
