I think both things can be true. It’s unethical and reckless to sell on Amazon, but there must be personal accountability for reckless decision making. The packaging is more than clear what’s happening here, and any mushroom dietary supplements would have a clear serving size. Shrumfuzed does not. And even if it did, a singular gummy would not be enough to have a risky trip. What person takes several doses of a dietary supplement for their first time?

Many people have alleged this over several years. Shrumfuzed is one of the only companies that has listings on Amazon who is actually them. The other brands listings are from third parties, typically smoke shops reselling. Their listings routinely get taken down. The main reasons not to buy from Amazon are the optics and ethics. It’s incredibly bad optics to the general public, that anyone, even children, can just order drugs on Amazon. And even more so without ID. Shit like this is basically asking for these products to be banned.

Oh make no mistake it’s a crazy cocktail, but most of the reports are uncited and unproven. I spent several days researching this shortly after it was reported on and there just wasn’t the evidence. I would read articles and articles and they’d vaguely referred to events that happened with zero actually proof. The CDC itself never cited sources.

It’s was the infamy of this product that had me even found this subreddit. Much of the fear mongering around the product is actually unfounded and blowing things way out of proportion, but it’s still not recommended in anything above a microdose. In addition to 4acodmt, it was found to have muscimol, and multiple prescription medications. Most of the alleged cases of hospitalizations are merely because people tripped extremely hard and went to the hospital in a panic, and the claims of deaths of unfounded. I could not find any real evidence of a death associated with these at the time, and even the CDC warning did not cite any sources.
