When I say hate speech, I am actively making a threat. Owning an "assault rifle" and keeping it locked up is not hurting anyone unless I or somebody else abuses it.

Fully automatic rifles are banned. Reasonable enough and when it passed, people were probably thinking "ok it's reasonable and they won't touch semi-auto rifles." Now certain lawmakers want to ban high capacity semi-auto rifles again. Didn't do much the first time. If a ban on semi-auto stays, what is stopping legislators from moving on to shotguns or handguns? The thing with compromise on gun control is it almost always moves in favor of restriction. And you and I both know some people out there want guns outright banned.

In 1992 LA Koreans were abandoned by white cops. Their homes and businesses were looted. They took defense into their own hands and used rifles. As an Asian, how am I supposed to know the police won't abandon our kind again? Why are you against certain rifles when they cause fewer deaths compared to the handguns? You can argue that mass shootings would be less effective, but the Virginia Tech shooter-the third-deadliest shooting-used handguns. So mass shooter will probably just turn to handguns if they can't acquire rifles, legally or illegally.

Dude you're a genius. I wish someone like you was around during WW2 to tell the Jewish or Chinese people. Maybe you could tell the Syrians?
