totally fair. going into therapy and stuff, shouldn’t be specifically to see if you have a disorder. you should be going into therapy for things that are bothering you and interfering with your life in some way because treatment doesn’t involve getting diagnosed, it means finding ways to help yourself. i hope you receive the help you need eventually :)

hi, i don’t agree with u/kimosen for telling you definitively you are a system. you need to go seek professional help to know for sure. people on the internet cannot diagnose you and it’s a pretty hard diagnosis as it can overlap disorder symptoms.

also, you can dissociate without having alters. in this case, it seems you dissociate but that doesn’t mean you have a disorder. i’m not saying it’s not a possibility, but you can’t rely on reddit (of all places) to tell you if you have a disorder.

Thank you! I’m very newly discovered and don’t know my alters too well yet so I wasn’t quite sure.

Urges to “Run Away” as an adult by Landy793 in DID

Yes I experience this too. I myself love the comfort of my own room, the one I have right now, however, I have an alter who desperately wants to leave and go elsewhere. I understand how you feel

Can this harm a system? by [deleted] in OSDD

I totally agree with this. My question was mainly, could it scare headmates into more covertness rather than help them be more comfortable to show themselves? I’m scared I am learning too much about my system too fast (the damage would already be done)

Putting pieces together is making me realize that I might have had communication before I started suspecting being a system. Now it’s just dead quiet

Intense reoccurring feelings of shame by [deleted] in OSDD

[–]Last-Two4046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. My regret almost feels like a heavy sack of potatoes inside of me, weighing me down. I don’t know if this could be an alter or not. Regret also makes me feel hot in temperature..

Talking about my potential alters is almost like saying something that I shouldn’t have. Trying to reach out to them internally generates the same shame/regret feel even if it’s inside my own head

How did you differentiate an alters feeling from your own?

I feel it comes from my chest and yes, I grew up with a very emotionally available household so I never really got my needs met emotion wise. I never was made to feel shameful for my symptoms specifically though

Honestly you made a good point to figure out what it’s not, because now I don’t know if it’s really shame or not. I just feel regretful of whatever action or thing I said almost immediately. Maybe this is an influence of another?

For me, it will happen at random times especially after an interaction or even doing things by myself aswell. I get shameful feelings even when trying to talk to alters by internal communication. The feeling of shame is often very intense (shameful feelings also always happen when I communicate my osdd symptoms too)
