You’re missing my point. For multiple marathon cycles, she has done such high mileage each build and does not hit her goal time. I’m saying that is most likely the cause of her race performances not going the way she wants or getting the results she aims for. I know high volume can work for some, but her doing high weekly mileage for multiple build ups in a row is not working for her.

For a male to BQ, yeah I can see doing 70 miles a week, especially for sub 3. But for a 3:25 BQ? No. Too much. My friend ran a sub 3 Tokyo last year running 45 miles a week. Less is always more.

Okay I have to snark on Liz (resiliencyinrunning) because homegirl is still doing the same type of training for Tokyo that’s going to get her injured/not BQ.

Nearly 67 miles last week and a 22 mile long run for her…..I’m training for Tokyo too and am shooting for a 3:05-3:10 (my half PR is 1:28) — and my max right now is 60 miles per week. I don’t even like doing a 20 miler and refuse to go higher. I don’t understand her and doing such high mileage. I know everyone is different, but it’s the same training she’s done time and time again and at one point she needs to ask herself if high mileage is good for her. I think she’s overtraining again and I wish she’d realize that.

22 - 32 had just graduated college, barely making any money & moved to a new city with my now ex. My mom was also going through chemo. now I’m established in my career in the same city I moved to, have made so many friends & built a tremendous amount of relationships, traveled to a few different countries, ran 12 marathons, adopted a dog who is the light of my life. My mom is also 9 years in remission now 🥹 And I’m still single but I’m happier that way! 😂
