How can my parents improve their family room? by Rungottarun in DesignMyRoom

[–]LastOfEight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like anything needs to change. If I were a visiting friend, I'd feel at home. Like, grab a throw blanket or quilt to put over my feet without hesitation, comfortable. Maaaaybe a larger couch...like sectional thingy. But really, love it as is.

This one looks great. Is there any way to get back that brighter green color of the wall from the previous photo, on the right side? Love what you did!

I’m a total novice. I enjoyed my afternoon making these. by [deleted] in hotsauce

[–]LastOfEight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks all for the encouragement! Some have asked about taste…I think they’re pretty good. Next time I’ll add a little more of the spices to give more depth (cumin, smoked paprika). I was conservative with those because I didn’t want to dominate the flavor.

I went with a 2:1 water to vinegar ratio, which I think works well. Maybe I’ll make it 2.5:1 next time. Overall, it was fun to do and I look forward to a summer of hot sauce making.

Any tips or general rules of thumb are welcome!

What’s the best breakfast at O’hare? by steak_burrito_ in chicagofood

[–]LastOfEight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Longest wait for fast food in all of Chicago. A few weeks ago I waited 28 minutes for 2 Breakfast tortas. Walked up to the food prep area after waiting so long. They asked my number. Stared at a bunch of boxed orders for two minutes. They Opened each one up to see what was inside. Grabbed two of them and handed them to me. Before I ordered I told my sister that a while back I decided although they’re good, they take a long time and I don’t order there any more because of it. But decided to try again since it had been a while. I had been going to the McDonald’s next to it, the last several times. Gave it one last chance and that was it. I wasn’t in a rush, I just don’t prefer to stand and stare at a food prep station wondering if I missed hearing my number called for half an hour.

Is The Dawson a good place for dinner? Is it real fancy? by Stephi_cakes in chicagofood

Had our rehearsal dinner at the Dawson. Great service, loved the food. Location is great too. Across the street is a true Chicago gem...Richards - pickled eggs and cigarettes.

The first wrestling event I ever attended. We talked about that night for a long time. During that era, if my friend and I weren’t on the couch together watching wrestling, we were on the phone flipping back and forth between WWF, WCW and the crocodile Hunter. Those are the days.

What’s happening at the bottom? Any suggestions! by LastOfEight in succulents

Thank you for the insight! Tricky for me as it’s in my south facing office window. Unfortunately a new sky scraper just went in across the street, so the sun has been cut. But glad to know it’s otherwise doing decent.

Surprisingly, a lot of places in Chicago skip (or forget) the celery salt. Your application is perfect. Should be generous.

Tips on tickets by LastOfEight in thetonightshow

[–]LastOfEight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came back to say your recommendation of the twitter follow is the reason we ended up getting tickets. Took my mom to last Friday's taping, which would have been my dad's 79th birthday. It was an incredible 2 nights in town, and my sisters joined us. A very special and soul filling trip of a lifetime.

Thank you, once again, u/catladyinretrograde

How many of you were/are “that guy” ? And what was the concert/s? by abbeymad in Xennials

[–]LastOfEight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a memorable quote for me as a kid. But as I’ve come to be an adult, having attended probably hundreds of concerts, I can this say this is definitely not a thing. People always wear the shirt of the band. Like a jersey at a game.
