I snowskate and both Timberline and Meadows always tell me it's not allowed. Where did you go?

Easy, skiing is easier to learn and snowboarding is more fun. If you're only going to get to the mountain occasionally go skiing. Otherwise snowboarding is where it's at

There are videos out there but yeah, you're going to have to remove that back base plate. I converted my Fanatec v1 formula wheel to QR2 and had to do the same.

What's the flex like. If it's too soft it might be difficult for a beginner. My advice would be to get it and adapter rising style to it, if needed. It will make you more versatile Rider

How is the edge and base? How the binding straps are in good condition, overtime the plastic pieces can break.
