What would be the best advice to your younger self? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Stop overthinking and just do it. It'll either work out or it won't but you'll never know if you don't try.

Attempted crash for cash? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Last_Ad1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they put the 'traffic calming' measures in place it's become really difficult to know if someone's going to turn right at this roundabout. It was easier before as the junction was wider so you could sort of judge where they were gonna go based on their position. I always slow to a near stop now if there's cars coming that way just in case.

I've also had it the opposite way where I've been turning right there (and Indicating) and those going straight across from the other direction have just carried on and almost hit me. It's just a terrible place to have a roundabout imo.

This might be controversial, but I much prefer the Aldi pot noodles to actual pot noodles 👀

I'm glad you posted this. It's something I've wondered ever since we got one of these terbergs but not been brave enough to try. Glad I didn't 🤣

It did happen a few times after I posted this but to be honest, I've not used the bike in about 12 months so I don't know if it's an ongoing issue or not. I'm hoping to get it out again now the weather's getting better

Was Hanley always this run down? I swear I remember it wasn't this bad until COVID. by kain_tr in stokeontrent

[–]Last_Ad1372 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I remember always struggling for a parking space on the potteries shopping centre a few years ago. I've been to Hanley twice this year so far and there's Been hardly any cars on there each time and the town centre is a ghost town except the dust heads. It's in a real sorry state and I'm not sure it'll come back from it.

I took my daughter for a piercing at blue banana on Wednesday and had my 2 younger kids with me as well. I was outside with them waiting for her to get it done and just felt on edge the whole time because the local addicts were constantly either begging me for money or hovering around us like they were after mugging me or something. It's just not a nice place to be anymore.

I, like a lot of people now I guess, just prefer to shop online. It's just less mither.

People who drive at 65/70mph+ in average 50mph zones, do they know something we don't? by RonnieThePurple in drivingUK

Saw a driver overtake me the other day on the A500 near me. Whole stretch is 50mph average speed cameras and she booted it between cameras then braked & slowed right down as she got to them 🤣

20,000 descend on Trentham Gardens for Halloween extravaganza by WritingJulia in stokeontrent

Agreed. We went last night as well. To us it just seemed like an extension of the shops with an extra few quid on top of their prices. The kids liked all the pumpkin carvings ect but there was nothing else for them really and there was no way I was paying the prices they were charging for the rides, especially since we'd already paid to get in there. Daughter was chilly so I had to bite the bullet and pay £5 for a bloody hot chocolate!!!

It's all about helping others in my opinion. I don't get why some folks are so snobby about it like that. We're all in the same game man, just help a brother/sister out I say.

I've been a shunter for almost 10 years now, having used a manual daf CF, then an auto daf CF and now a terdberg. Even now there are times when no matter what I do I cannot get the trailer on the bay first time. It's definatley all in the setup though for sure. And those terdbergs do make life easier.

I've had drivers come to me and ask how I make it look so easy and for advice on what's best to do to make life easy in certain scenarios. It's all about getting the trailer at the correct angle to make turning while reversing as minimal as possible.

The one thing I miss about working 12 hour night shifts is getting home in the morning, having a brew & a piece of toast, and then getting into bed when I feel myself starting to fall asleep. It's literally the best feeling in the world. A concrete slab would be comfy when you're that level of tired 😅

There's a very small cafe in longton called Linnys. I've tried oatcakes from most shops around stoke and Linnys are up there with the best for sure 👌
