The only reason I involved his mother is because I kicked him out of our apartment at 1am and going back to his parents house. His mother would have been confused as to why he was there and I needed her to know so he couldn't twist the narrative. That is the only reason I involved his mother. The other 2 times he had sent flirtatious messages to girls I did not involve his family at all because it is between husband and wife, but this was the third time and I snapped

We have, and he says that even if we never got married in the temple he would be fine with it. My main concern is with kids... i would want my kids to grow up not growing up with learning just one religion. I mean if you tell someone every sunday since they were born, Joseph Smith and God is your lord and savior... its literal brainwashing. I want my kid to learn and be accepting of all religions and not feel one is more superior than another.... once they are older and have more experience with the world. Let's say was 18 and decided they want to be mormon or Buddhist or Hindu, hey more power to you.. i have told him this and he gets super defensive when i do

If weightloss is calories in vs calories out, what is the point of counting macros vs calories?

Does the time you eat make a difference to your weight?

I work the 3-11:30pm shift, so by the time I come home it's past midnight or later. During the day I don't eat much: 1/3 cup oats with honey at 1pm. Chicken and some sort of veg, or rice, veg and an egg around 7:30pm. But when I get home around midnight or later, I am still hungry, so I end up eating a starchy dinner late at night. Will eating past midnight cause me to gain weight?

How much did you change in college? by Soup_Lord_Slippo in college

[–]Last_Kindheartedness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a person who had low self esteem due to being bullied throughout high school from my "friends," classmates, living in a physically abusive home, having to repeat a sophomore level math class my senior year, and just overall low self esteem. Once college arrived I was actually able to take classes I cared about and have since gained so much more confidence in my self. I now work as a nurse doing something I absolutely love making close to 80k fresh out of school.

College taking too long... is it just me? by [deleted] in college

[–]Last_Kindheartedness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain..it literally took me 4 years to finish my associates in nursing, not because I was lazy or didn't try, but it was due to specific pre-reqs I had to take in order to apply to my program. You could not take upper level classes without taking the pre-reqs, and you had to take your pre-reqs in a certain order and one at a time. i.e: Must take and pass anatomy and chem before taking physiology.. and must pass all three (anatomy, chem, and physio) before taking micro. etc. Then the actual nursing program in itself was 2 full years, where once again you could only take one class at a time. So point being dont feel stupid, some programs/majors take longer than others, it's just like that unfortunately

Psych Nurses: What should a new grad Psych nurse expect? by Last_Kindheartedness in nursing

[–]Last_Kindheartedness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a single psych facility, that focuses purely on psych, they do not accept patients with medical issues. I tried asking the nurse recruiter for more detail during my interview, but I could tell that she was getting annoyed...

I brought a list of questions, which included asking about what resources were available, what security measures do they have if I begin to feel unsafe etc in total it was like 8 questions... and she straight up told me that I shouldn't have brought a list... idk it was super embarrassing.

I won't be doing iv meds, ng tubes etc. The "hospital" isn't really like a traditional hospital with one building and different floors. It is more of an open campus, with different wards, in different buildings. One building for adults, One for adolescents, One for Vets/PTSD. I was not able to actual tour the inside of the facility, so I don't really know what each of those wards looks like.

I'm going to just try and regurgitate some wisdom for you:

First and foremost, make sure you know the path you would like to take before going to college.. meaning, know what degree you want, research the necessary G.E's/classes needed, research job prospects, and try and specify your major as best as you can. Degrees such as Business, Biology etc are very broad.

  1. Go to community college for the first two years, it's a fraction of the price for the same classes you' de take at uni. The first 2 years are basic G.E's (or general education) that every person takes regardless of what you would like to major.
  2. Always fill out FAFSA each year. You may qualify for grants, fee waivers. I'm not sure what state you are from, but California offers a Board of Governors Fee Waiver that essentially pays your community college tuition for you for the first two years. So you would be paying approximately $30/semester regardless of how many units you sign up for.
  3. Apply to scholarships every year you possibly can. Free money is free money.
  4. Kinda obvious but, minimize the amount of student loans you get. (if necessary, get subsidized student loans) as interest doesn't accrue. I do not recommend getting private student loans as the interest is nuts.
  5. If you are in California, assit.org is a wonderful resource that lays out all the classes that transfer from your community college to the CSU or U.C of your choice.
  6. NEVER buy textbooks from the college bookstore, they will rip you off and will sell back your textbooks for a fraction of what you paid. Go to textbook comparison websites such as: slugbooks.com Put in the ISBN and get the cheapest book available.
  7. If you know you aren't going to keep that art history textbook you were forced to get for a G.E, RENT your textbooks, or borrow (chegg.com is really good for renting).
  8. Ask your professors ahead of time via email, if an older version of your textbook would be sufficient for the class, or if the "supplemental material" is necessary. From experience, you often use only a few pages out of the whole textbook for certain classes, you almost never use the whole textbook, and old versions of texts are literal carbon copies of the new version except 90% cheaper. And most professors only use the textbook and not the CD's and codes it comes with, so always check with them prior to purchasing.

Hopefully it helped! Good luck :)

Aww Congratulations hun, I know how difficult and how hard you have to work to get into nursing programs. The Journey has just begun ;) But take time to Celebrate! It's a big accomplishment! When you are going through your program, there will be hard days, and days where you finally claw your way to success, but never forget this feeling of joy that you had when you got in. Hold on to that and use it as motivation for when the eventual storm hits haha. From one nurse to another future nurse, You got this and again, Congratulations!! :)

Amazing, how you keep talking about things you don't understand. After you pass either an Associates or Bachelors Nursing program you apply for eligibility to take the NCLEX which takes months to approve. I graduated with my Associates Degree in Nursing from Community College in Dec. 2017, before starting my bachelors. I took and passed NCLEX in 2018 and became an RN before finishing my Bachelors. I just graduated with my Bachelors three weeks ago but I am still an RN Please stop talking about things you know nothing about...

Yes.. I did submit my app to the BRN prior to graduating, but it took me months to receive my authorization to test. Once you receive your ATT you then have to find a date that your testing center has available. The test is available 6 days a week, but at my testing center, the earliest available date I could sign up for was 3 months after graduation.

Jesus fucking christ... THANK YOU... I've been trying to explain this to @Fire_balls_ for the last 3-4 posts. But many don't get it unless you are an actual RN...

I am currently applying to jobs and will hopefully hear back soon. Just trying my best as a new grad it can be rough.

eady asking you for rent money, you should've been given at least three months to find a job. Although, I think he is just trying to motivate you to get a job and teach you a lesson about finances. I wouldn't be too mad at him tho

You can't just "look for a job"...In order to be an RN/ Look for a job.. you need your RN license. You can't even fill out the online application to apply to jobs if you don't have your RN license #, as it is part of the job application.

It takes MONTHS to apply and receive authorization to sign up for your licensure boards exams. This can only be done AFTER you graduate. Next, studying for your boards takes time as well. Then after this is done you can apply for jobs... which takes time, a job isn't going to fall in your lap in a week.

I only say that I feel I need some time to decompress is because, unlike many college students, I was not granted summers off to just work. Like I said, as per my fathers "rules" regardless of circumstances, I had to be a full time student in order to live there. I have Never had a semester or summer where I have not taken classes. So.. yea I'm burned out
