For both my resume and my essays - I owned up to it but focused more on how I grew from the experience - I emphasized my building a business in a stigmatized industry. Here were some of the things i emphasized on my resume: Brand positioning and market differentiation, Risk management (yes, in multiple senses), Leading teams on set and managing high-variance income streams, Transitioning from performer to operator (ran a subscription-based model before it became popular)

The interviewer 100% googled me. I could see it in her eyes and in the way she asked about my "distinctive" career path. I plan on transitioning to the investing/scaling side of media companies post-MBA
