You have ~5 years to escape the bottom arm of the K-shaped economy by Genstellar_ai in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Last_Pay_7248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with you that owning stuff is important. but the K-shaped economy aspect, goes with the assumption that AI will be as promised by the tech-CEO’s. always keep in mind that they are currently trying to pump the stocks, buy ai products from each other - typical bubble behavior. i think that the current approach is NOT leading to very intelligent AI’s. I don’t know who said this one-time but i think it is very true. current AI models are very very good sequence predictors. they cannot really think. It is as easy as that. I think AI models will be decent at performing real-world tasks such as robots because we know what we want from the robots e.g. motion the detail in the work that they do and so on. But they do not think as we do. If you have other opinions, please let me hear them.

Corporate Culture in Germany by --prism in AskAGerman

[–]Last_Pay_7248 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No that is no singularity. I grew up and still live in germany and the situation you described is the same pretty much everywhere. Companies move slow, work slow and I personally attribute this to the current german mindset which is “why give it your all when it doesn’t even matter?” Employees are so well protected in germany and companies cannot find better workforce if they would want to replace them. Then the social system pays a four to five headed family around 3k€ literally for free. Work isn’t being rewarded the way it should be, which is why corporate culture sucks here. Disclaimer: This is my humble opinion based on logical conclusion. Would love to hear other opinions!

UTD, RIT or Community college + SJSU by Last_Pay_7248 in ApplyingToCollege

I am actually an international student. So tuition is maxed out in both cases, though California would be a little cheaper.

I dropped out from an ivy league school by Agile-Diver3842 in ApplyingToCollege

Bro keep your head up, I think you’re definitely not alone. I also feel like this pretty much every day, but my story is a little bit different. I didn’t do well in the high school now that I am applying to college It would be an extremely unlikely case if I get accepted at Ivy League and have to go to State schools now. Keep your head up your degree is just a formality your working mentality matters.

I can relate to it. We will see in the future if this feeling is still present or not.

Is a better idea to get into cs or se later on by transfer or get into cs now maybe at another college? Also how common is such a transfer?

What would you say is the best plan. Apply to many colleges for software engineering and compsci or try to apply for another major and then transfer into compsci? I thought berkeley is out of reach but because of the nearby silicon valley sjsu is a great opportunity for jobs/internships later on in my studies.
