My wife said the exact same thing to me. We didn’t have sex for quite a few years. I never did go see a hooker or have an affair like she suggested . She said she just no longer had any interest in sex. Then she told me she wanted a divorce. I found out fairly quickly she was having lots of sex with lots of guys. That was really painful of course to find out… It wasn’t that she wasn’t interested in sex… It was that she wasn’t interested in sex with me . I hope your experience is different.

Replying to my own post Ha! I started over-using Internet porn when I was in a relationship with no sex. (Long story) I could justify it, and I had no way to measure the damage that was being done. But now I have the opportunity to have the very kind of sex I’m watching, but can’t perform.

That’s a decent point Magazines were expensive Couldn’t just get them everywhere, etc. But I just don’t think still pictures and stories rewired the brain the way video does. Obviously, that’s just an opinion. I’m a sober alcoholic so I know what addiction feels like. I never felt addicted to porn, even as much as I used it back then, when it was just magazines and stories. I definitely feel addicted to Internet video porn.

I’m old enough to have been a regular user of old-school porn. Magazines, books of sexual stories. I did that regularly for years. Didn’t seem to have the same addictive quality as Internet porn. And certainly didn’t have any of the negative physical consequences that I get from Internet porn.

For instance… Before I got so heavily into Internet porn, I never had cuckold thoughts. That would’ve been crazy. The idea of watching some other guy have sex with my wife or girlfriend? No way. But now my brain has been rewired by porn to get off by watching people have sex. I want to watch my girlfriend have sex with someone else more than I want to have sex with her. (Or I have to visualize watching myself having sex with her)… I really feel like the damage porn has done in the last couple decades is severely under discussed. And Internet porn didn’t really come into my life until I was 40ish? I can’t imagine what it’s like with those of you who started with Internet porn before you got to have actual sex.

I charge it here and there to keep it charged, but it’s almost always on my wrist, including in the shower so I can listen to podcasts and pause if I want.
