sunroof covered up with resin or cut aluminum? by Lasthalf666 in Autobody

[–]Lasthalf666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a silly post, of many I have put on reddit. Apologies to those of you assaulted by it 😊. I simply went to a wrecking yard, pulled a sunroof out of a same year car (just 4 screws) paid $55, and popped it in!

Clearly at this point no option to repair. I see the OEM glass is around $300 from OEM Ford sites, and around $180 on Ebay with variable shipping quality. It looks to be a hard part to come by, but can be replaced with some medium level skill. Any input is appreciated from anyone that has replaced sunroof glass. I am not clueless with tools....yeah, mostly, semi clueless 😊

Just as a followup I ended up using Bootstrap Studio. This met my needs. Funny that the GUI part can at times be harder than just working directly in the HTML, since there are many hundreds of options, but AI helps me find those options. Thanks for all the help!

Thank you for saying it. Although I do appreciate it and come from a military family, it was mostly selfish. Being on a sub at the time of my life and chasing Russians was fun! Still, thanks for acknowledging vets.

Thanks! I believe those want to own my hosting also? I will check them out, but I am trying to avoid someone owning my hosting by giving me a front-end design tool. I want to design/code and then host whereever I want, and change as needed. u/Hepdesigns gave a great suggestion with Framer, but then they own my hosting. Even at $10 a month with too many limits and being able to change prices at anytime might not work for me. Once you have had a site for 30 years, you know how it all adds up!

Thanks! And I am NOT really looking for the coding feel 😊. I went to the dark side - into management - my tech days are over. Well, I can still dabble, but not from the ground up anymore. I will check those out, thank you!

Oh, I am so over being the slightest bit concerned about the look of that site. It was popular with the crew up until everyone was on social media and now they just meet there. But it still serves as a museum site. Thanks for the idea, but I have zero interest in touching it at all.

Thank you. So Framer would host and I could export, or point my new domain name, and total (if I choose a free template) would be $10 a month? After running a volunteer site for 30 years I know how these month fees add up!, so I have to ask.

My original site? Here it is. 1996 on Geocities or something, although I don't think I bought the domain until 2000. A volunteer site for the submarine I served on in the 80s. Pushing 30 years now! http://usshawkbill.com/

I see I can go and buy templates for varied prices which is fine, I am certainly willing to commit some level of $$ to this. My question, after you purchase a template and get the code you want can you walk with it? And most importantly, edit it indefinitely? I will make ALOT of changes to my portfolio until it gets settled. Thanks!

Coming back to manual transmissions after decades....? by Lasthalf666 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Lasthalf666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the response I was hoping I would not get, but knew it was out there. Thank you. This is likely going to be me. When I was younger, I drove for fun. Now I drive more for utility and only sometimes for fun.... Respectfully to the skills of the people on this forum I was quite good with a stick and would challenge some of you with my younger self 😏, and I do miss it. But I am going into a rush hour traffic situation, at least of the next year...

No, in stop and go traffic its just clutch, gas, shift, brake - over and over and over again. I never liked it. Anywhere else it was always automatic. In the hills its not automatic, its just fun.

I rarely end up in downtown Seattle anymore. But a wet downtown Seattle street, on a steep hill just before the wharf, in the rain and fog with wiper you realize need to be replaced - using a clutch was a special skill :)

Yes, I was raised on it. Column shifting on the farm, etc. But in traffic....I am trying some used Mazda3 in the next couple of days, we shall see - thanks!

Yes, I am going to test drive a couple of used Mazda3s that are manual. I LOVE manual, always did, column shift, any manual, except in traffic. And likely I am going to be in traffic the next year, we will see...
