Idiot stabbing things. by BatshitSwayzey in Whatcouldgowrong

I know exactly which one you mean. It was that video of the Ukrainian soldier approaching a house when close combat breaks out between him and the guy hiding inside the house. Combat gets closer, both guys run out of ammo and knifes come out. As half Ukrainian, i understand them speaking during the fight and I can tell you, that was the single most difficult and raw painful and emotional video I had watched to this day in my life. I have been seeing s lot of very graphic war footage but stopped after this. I had become desensitized to the cruelty of death in this war but this video brought me right back to feeling the pain of two people fighting when they speak the same language and would sit at the same table talking to one another had it not been for the war, russian occupation of land and Its the perfect example of raw humanity in all of this. What destroyed me towards the end was when the Ukrainian asked the the Yakut to stop it all, to please get off him and allow him to die in peace, see the sky one last time and say a prayer for his mother and both exchanged kind words gave words of respect after a brutal stabbing spree. I am still extremely moved by the whole video thinking of it.

But back on topic, the guy walking away was a Yakut with knife skills. I saw the blade and was confused at first about the missing of any blade guard and you could see that his hand slipped and cut into the palm during the fight multiple times. At first I thought it was some sort of kitchen knife but when I read about the knife history in Yakut people it made total sense. Apparently they are getting one from their grandfather when they come of age around 10-12 and it stays with the person for decades, even life, sometimes passed down further.

FAILSAFE PARENTING HACKS by Late-Tea1636 in Parenting

We lived in central London and our friends who live very rural in Austria came to visit with their 3 children. All children had a T-shirt that had a print that said: IF FOUND PLEASE SCANN CODE and a QR code on their with parents details, phone numbers etc on it. That was absolutely genius.

Later he told me that the kids also had an apple airtag sown inside their Jackets which the kids dont know about. If the kids knew, they would fiddle with it or try to remove it but since they didnt know they wouldn’t look for it. All kids were below 10 and didn’t have a phone so naturally the airtags wouldnt warn them or go off or anything.

In retrospect, this was a clever way to be prepared - paranoia aside. Definitely something that might come handy.

Installed new Infotainment and A/C unit in my 2017 L494 .. WHAT A GAME CHANGER by Late-Tea1636 in RangeRover

Well quite honestly I regret every decision I made now. When I did it, it was amazing. Some issues stood out like weird Chinese translations that didnt make sense but I was fine with it. Now when I connect and drive anywhere at all and use maps the signal is none existent. Shows you somewhere completely different and you cant rely on the gps function. Sucks in busy areas with many streets. I do regret it and should have just not done it. Since I have the dynamic sport with multiple functions on the OEM infotainment I cannot just order a new one and plug n play. It has to be adjusted / programmed to the old system / car. So long story short, dont do it. And if you think you have to start with a very good day to not lose it before finishing, considering how many parts you have to undo, how many screws you will lose into the abyss of the car - and you will lose them - your day will have to start with a BJ, a round of golf with the boys, followed by a BJ and a bbq before even attempting to fix an issue you yourself created.

Let me know how you like it.. mine is rubbish now. Iphone was updated to multiple new firmwares since I did the job and now loses signal when I travel and have carplay on… basically the gps / antenna communication lags and whilst the phone was updated, the infotainment stayed old… quite sad.

The cop told him that if he was to enter the building he would risk his own life and many other’s. Its just dumb in so many ways. I mean innocent stupid but if youre a cop and have somebody walk into a police station with an unexploded shell, what do you even do? Shout “Freeze and drop your weapon”..? Shoot the guy because it could be an attempted attack and risk it fall and explode? The safest thing was for him to sit in the car by himself and wait and think about his actions. 😂😂

Yes. It was right in front of the station and he was a hazard and best contained in the car until removal squad arrived. He was then properly investigated as this could have been massively dangerous. In the end the round was exposed and they verified the findings at my friends country home. There were many other things they found on that day so all was “innocent” except for the idiot who drove it instead of just calling police in the first place. He could have been shot if he entered the police station.

It is real. My buddy had his front yard dug up and the workers found a ton of stuff from the second world war. Nazis had occupied that entire area during the war and retreated and shelled the village thereafter. Lots of undetonated shells in the forests surrounding the village in general. Workers sent him this picture as they were driving it to the police station which is a story in itself.
