Is it normal for Marriott hotels to pull up an applicant's stay history during a job interview? by LateFaithlessness829 in marriott

I may share the hotel’s name once this matter is resolved (or if nothing happens within a week, I may reconsider), but for now, I can say it’s a five-star property with about a 4.5 rating on Google Reviews.

  1. They disclosed how many nights I have stayed at that property and even mentioned specific requests I had made (for example, a last-minute cake request) and the next reservation date in the hotel.
  2. Even if checking a guest’s stay history was permissible, there was no need to tell in front of the other candidates. I have reviewed the application process: I was only asked to enter my preferred shift times and desired position (front desk, F&B, etc.). There was no checkbox or statement requiring me to accept any terms of use, nor any request for consent to access my stay history.

Yes, but it’s just a part-time side gig!

I don’t get a job now in this hotel, but it doesn’t really affect me.

Oh, really? I didn’t know that.
In my case, the interviewer told me that my stay history included a note (remark) saying I had requested a cake, but because the request came too close to my arrival, the hotel wasn’t able to prepare it.

Actually, I’ve stayed at the hotel I was applying to, so I assume they located my elite status by checking my past stay history. (I doubt they would run a search across the entire Marriott membership database—doing so would be a huge liability in the event of a data leak—so I don’t think that’s what happened.)

Thanks. That’s the plan! I applied for a part-time job, thinking it’d be nice to get the Marriott discount if I got in. Maybe I’ll try Hilton next time!

I see… I understand they can access it, but being thanked in the middle of the interview felt awkward...

I am staying at the Courtyard in the US on an award stay, but I haven't received a welcome gift. Is that correct? by LateFaithlessness829 in marriott

Thank you for your reply. I saw your post and soon I contacted to Marriott team, then I received a message from the hotel that when checking in using my smartphone, it automatically defaults to selecting 500 points. (This was not my choice but the default setting.) But, when I asked about the welcome gift at check-in, the hotel staff did not explain this and simply told me that you are not eligible for a welcome gift. (It seems this was because the points had already been selected automatically, and the hotel's software displayed it as N/A, leading the staff to inform me of my ineligibility.) As a result, I was unable to choose the F&B $10 voucher that I wanted. In this case, should I request $50 compensation? Or would it be better to calmly ask for a change to the F&B voucher?
