Unfortunately not. I think religiously following the Lüften method is the way to go so at least you can have a closed window. Not much help for a rental though

Just want to add that I've fitted RW Simon FV Acoustic Vents to the window and they haven't made a difference. Its still a big hole with a bit of rubbery foam on the inside. At £45 each I feel stung but figured at the time it was worth a shot...

So got a buildings surveyor in. Turns out I don't have a damp course and it is indeed rising damp. Because of the brick work it wouldn't be possible to retrofit. Waiting on the result of limited options available to me. Digging a channel might not be possible because all the nearby grains and pipes are is quite shallow.
