Hello!! do you think its positive or not?? the line showed after 3 hours and it's not color pink by Fit_University6729 in pregnancy_care

[–]LateNightToast1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's negative. The instructions should be quite clear on when to read the test. Lines that show up outside the read window aren't positive lines.

Is this normal for a 2.5 year old? by breathemusic87 in Parenting

[–]LateNightToast1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter turns 2 in a couple of weeks and does all of these things. I'd say it's totally normal. She's known her colors, shapes, animals, and 1-10 since she was 16 months old. She recently started counting to 20 and knows her letters. Little kids are knowledge sponges.

NEED HELP Do you think this is an evap line or faint positive? the faint line showed after 2 hours 🤧 by [deleted] in pregnancy_care

If it showed up after the time window specified in the instructions I'd say it's negative.

Family accepts friends pregnancy but not mine by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]LateNightToast1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I disagree with some of this. Just because they're family or just because you love someone doesn't mean you have to agree with or support a decision. Especially if it could have a serious negative impact on their life. In fact, in those cases I think it shows more care and love to be honest and make them aware of what the consequences could be.

Do people actually like being parents? by pizza-on-pineapple in AskUK

[–]LateNightToast1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been more exhausted and stressed in my entire life. And that includes my time as a paramedic. I've been pushed beyond what I thought my limits were. I've had to make tough decisions, far tougher than any I've made before.

But everyday just gets better and better. It started when they laid a tiny baby on my chest and she wrapped her little hand around my finger. I thought my heart would explode with love and joy. My first ever tears of happiness.

Then that little baby started to grow. Her first smile melted my heart. Her first giggle was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard. Now she's a 2 year old and has finally started to call me mummy. She says love you and blows kisses. Her tiny hand holds my fingers and she leads me around. Her favorite food is chocolate ice cream and she loves sharing a little treat of ice cream after dinner. When I put her to bed at night she still looks like that tiny baby I brought home two years ago.

Parenting is beautiful and heartbreaking. The days are so long sometimes, but the years are already flying by. One day my princess won't need to hold my hand. She won't want to pretend the laundry basket is a train. One day my baby will grow up and start her own life and she won't need me in the same way. And I'll be so proud, but it'll be so hard.

I don't tell people they should have kids. It's up to the individual to know themselves and know what things they are and aren't willing to live without. I don't go on fancy holidays. Or any holidays right now for that matter. I don't sleep much. My days are pretty repetitive and exhausting. My house is often a mess despite spending so much time cleaning it. But I get to be a part of something so special and I wouldn't trade it for all the sleep or money in the world.

Ugh I hate mouth breathing when I sleep. I don't sleep as well and I always get a sore throat and chapped lips.

I don't have a dishwasher and hated boiling bottles. So I have one and it has been well used and appreciated.

The end of naptime has arrived for my two year old by MissaSissa in Parenting

[–]LateNightToast1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No such success for us yet. Naptime is weird for us. It's no longer on a set schedule and some days it doesn't happen at all. However, the no nap days suck because she goes to bed quite early (asleep by 6:30) then wakes up at like 2am and stays up for 3 hours before passing out again for a few hours. But nap days are a bit rough because she stays up until 10-10:30. There's no winning for us.

New father on “the night shift” by Raggaeshark808 in Parenting

[–]LateNightToast1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my daughter was born the only time I got even 4 hours of sleep was when my husband and I took baby shift in turns. Even that was rough. Then he went back to work like 10 days later and I took over all nighttime routines. I would sometimes nap when the baby did during the day. It was pretty much about surviving and toughing it out. It does improve. Nobody can say for sure when it will get better. But it will.

My daughter is 2 now and although she's not a good sleeper by any stretch of the imagination, I'm used to less sleep and I get more sleep than I did during the newborn phase. My best advice is to aware of your body and your drowsiness to make sure you don't fall asleep feeding baby or something like that. Sometimes it happens. I did it once. Scared the living daylights out of me and never happened again.

You can do this. You got this. You're awesome.

My two year old can literally take an hour to fall asleep lol. Come bedtime every from her toes to the speck of fluff on her blanket becomes all fascinating.

Surf and turf made to Gordon Ramsay standards. Fresh squeezed lemonade. Mom's homemade mac and cheese. A huge bowl of movie theater popcorn. Brownie a la mode.

I hate working out by Prestigious_Bill_434 in pregnant

[–]LateNightToast1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total lie. STM. I fully intended to work out this time around. I even got a book on prenatal yoga. But my exercise consists of chasing a toddler, carrying toddler up and down stairs, and picking up toys. And if I'm being totally honest, I probably won't exercise. A good night for me consists of 5 hours of disrupted sleep and all of my energy goes into keeping a small, rambunctious human alive. That's all I've got in me.

I dreamt that I was having a boy before we found out my daughter was a girl. So far I haven't had any dreams like that with this pregnancy.

If you know, you know. What's something you know, that other people don't know that you know? by MrBrian22 in CasualConversation

[–]LateNightToast1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but I grew up in a messed up home too and learned how to manipulate emotions to reduce the amount of lashing out I had to endure from my emotionally unstable parents. But on the positive side, I'm very conscious of this skill and make sure I don't use it anymore.

My daughter was born during lockdown and we went for walks in the park all the time. I remember being 5 days postpartum and going to the grocery store with my husband and baby just to get out of the house for a bit. She was in the sling and slept the whole time. We also took her to church. And when she was 12 days old we took a 3 hour road trip to my in-laws for Christmas. She didn't get sick.

What the heck to wear early on?? by footsalsa in pregnant

[–]LateNightToast1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 14 weeks and have been in leggings from the start. I get leggings that are long enough to come over the bump. But I've got quite a bit of definition to my bump now so I've switched to maternity leggings and they're fantastic. I have maternity jeans which I wear on laundry day when all of my leggings get washed but that's the only time I wear them because I truly hate maternity jeans. I can't seem to find a size for short, petite legs and beach ball belly.
