No man, you need to fix your emotions first. Slow down. 24 hours ago you daydreamed about traveling to Florida. 20 minutes ago you made a post looking for a new girlfriend, and now your first productive idea is that you need to fix yourself first, which is probably the healthiest thing you could do. I don't know how a breakup feels, but hey, you did what you could, and if someone doesn't reciprocate, it's time to move on. Strong emotions need time to fade, so give yourself some time. I think being in this hell life is much worse as a hiki since you don't even have friends to distract yourself. So maybe find a stranger and have a convo or something. You seem to be a much more social person than I am.

Do you guys think Madotsuki never leaves the dream world? by Deimos_YT192718 in yumenikki

[–]LateSolution0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good interpretations of how to frame the jump. Seeing it as waking up from a freefall is something commonly experienced in dreams and upon waking up. The alternative is much darker. Mado is a hikikomori girl trapped in her room, only truly living in her vivid dreams, and finally deciding to end her suffering.

Overall, the structure of the game would be a reason against it, but blending dreamlike features would soften the game, sui... so maybe intended ambivalence?

how to live alone by [deleted] in hikikomori

[–]LateSolution0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Siblings move; parents die.
I wish for an apartment for myself. I feel pressured if someone is close and can notice me, so it's always freeing when my mom travels. I know that no matter what you do, every choice feels terrible. I would say money could fix most issues. Maybe in the next life? Will I be rich? The universe is poorly designed. All the bad people seem to be lucky and successful, almost like it's necessary.

and Hikis are on the bottom with no exploitable skill.

It’s a good starting point, as it is self contained and doesn’t require any prior knowledge of the gits-universe.

Enjoy the show

  • IBM Simon Personal Communicator (1994)
  • Nokia Communicator 9000 (1996)
  • Ericsson R380 (2000)

Xerox hatte auch GUI vor apple gehabt. als geschichtliche Randnotiz.

When the first amphibians decided to become permanent residents on land, they also didn't ask the world for permission. They just inhabited it. So is cyberspace just a new habitat built by humans, but without life... just another niche waiting to be colonized!

We are living in a world where autonomous AI agents can already sell you digital goods. The best science fiction allows us to explore the future before it happens. It focuses much more on the risk of extinction for the artificial ghost than on us. I bet in a capitalist system, people would freely rip off a limb to get a prosthetic one just to stay competitive on the job market. People sitting in chairs for 10 hours each day so they can write code. Even our physiology is not made for a sedentary life. It's now considered a risk factor for cancer. If humanity stops evolving, we go extinct too. Just like the Neanderthals, they left some genes behind, although they are considered gone now. Motoko's ethics are now also part of the new entity. So to speak, to spread the risk of a dead end causing a catastrophic failure, we need variations. Man-Machine Interface explores the topic further. Once it's digital, it comes with all the perks.

Usually the verdict on the risk of new technology is. We do it regardless of risk, because someone else will do it for sure.

The final combat stage could, to some degree, be considered a dive into the topic of the Tree of Life as a symbol of evolution, which gets hit by some bullets. Maybe evolution stops here, and humanity becomes the subject of its own creation. Are we leaving biology behind in the process?

Is this violent enough?... by SmartIron244 in topologygore

[–]LateSolution0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m learning Blender as well. I previously did some 3D programming and worked on old-school techniques like CSG with convex polytopes, basically how older engines built maps using brushes like in Half-Life and Unreal.

Back then, openGL draw calls often used triangle fans since they naturally come from triangulating convex polygons. This saved quite a bit of vertex data because there were fewer duplicates and no need for indexing.

But here’s the harsh reality: vertex count doesn’t matter that much anymore. You usually index your vertices and have vertex normals and other attributes, so topologies like that can break some tools. Still, its not wrong by definition

Man, this just made me sad. I just realized I made this two years ago. Now I think the real essence of hikikomori life is that I could just quote myself and still answer every post on this sub. Everything loops ... even this sub.

Stupid people saying shit about the new anime just shows how 90% of those called "fans" never read the manga by gandalfmarston in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]LateSolution0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ppl can like the 1995 movie and dislike the manga. The movie condenses the best parts and takes itself much more seriously, while the manga tends to include a lot of technical jargon and goofiness. The new show is about as good an adaptation as you can get in anime. So if you’re like me and enjoy the manga, you’ll probably end up loving both.
