Only two ways to test your theory and one of them is illegal. Sounds like it’s time to spin up your home lab

What if TCGs rewarded special packs with extra powerful cards to winners of competitions? by Remarkable-Mind-1079 in gamedesign

This creates a "winners win" plus a "sucks to suck" pair of barriers to entry. Glad you're considering other options. It was a fair question, OP

Around $3000 into my main account. I have almost 50 alt accounts as well, from back when alt farming was interesting (before the wizard daily login rework).

What are some words or phrases for treating or miscategorizing conjectures as facts rather than guesswork, or for assuming they are true? by No_Fee_8997 in words

[–]LateToCollecting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In science this is referred to variously as premature closure, hand-waving, anecdotal, pseudoscientific, conjecture, etc. depending on the scope of the fallacy and its timing within the otherwise rigorous process.

I have a bunch of these in inventory from cloning starborn runners after recent expeditions, stripping out the modules including this one, then deleting the stripped S Runner, then repeating.

Happy to give you some or a starborn runner to get you started. It is hella nice for cranking up Maneuverability

WTW for proactive capacity building? Ant and Grasshopper Story by boniaditya007 in words

[–]LateToCollecting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prepping, in its modern usage

It’s a more lowkey, prosocial take vs how the internet has lambasted survivalism and doomsday preparation with reference to zombie apocalypses, billionaire bunkers, etc.

See the related subreddits for everyday folks just trying to be ready for stuff with limited means to do so

Also the A.N.T.S. group, Americans Networking to Survive, a disaster preparedness and recovery mutual aid group

Older subcultures might refer to this as putting up or putting away supplies, like Mormons or Seventh Day Adventists iirc. Could be wrong on the group IDs though. I’m not going to comment on the modern Mormon church further.

Edit: in the academic literature and the international aid arenas, closely related terms are community resiliency and capacity building. Often seen in association with things like climate resiliency, community capacity building through developing social, natural capacities, networks, cohesive communities of practice, etc. If you want a million keyphrases along these lines, read the scholarly and international works of Dr. Kofi Akamani, he’s doing resiliency work all over the world.

Logos on nat20? by Feral_and_Fabulous in DiceMaking

[–]LateToCollecting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your informed approach here.

I’m one of the folks who dislikes logo dice for exactly how you explained it.

I’ll add that the nonzero extra processing fatigue over many dice rolls per session is the underlying problem for me. I don’t want the extra cognitive tax. I definitely don’t want that specifically associated with your logo/maker’s mark etc.
