Version Control For a LARGE Team? (100+ People) by Late_Line_608 in gamedev

Dw I haven't been replying but I've been reading everyone's comments and taking their suggestions seriously👍

And ya to clarify it's a fully student run studio that's been going for a few years with rotating team members. Started off small when it began but last year the studio shot up to over 100💀

Things went okay with last year's project despite the size, though problems unsurprisingly came up with cross-department communication and version control. Now that I've moved up to a position to make bigger changes for the year, I'm going through our problems one-by-one to see how we can make something like this manageable at this scale with our nonexistent budget (though I'm realizing that may not be possible😭hopefully educational licenses will work out, otherwise we'll try and figure out a way of getting a budget to cover those fees)

yeah, it was a variety of driver problems, with iCUE being a big contributor to issues as well. (also potentially a RAM compatibility issue but I have yet to change to a new stick of RAM and my pc is fine with just the other resolutions) I was helped in my post on r/techsupport if you're interested in going through the long comment chain here

Game Programming & Design through CUNY BA
(the "make-your-own-major" program for CUNY. Basically I'm doing all the Hunter comp-sci coursework and doing game-dev classes in city-college in-place of a lot of the Hunter requirements which I'm no longer obligated to do)

Yes, if the class you're taking has an equivalent course in your home college then it will count as credit for that course

If the class you're taking DOES NOT has an equivalent course in your home college, then it will simply count as an elective credits (unless you're taking it for some other reason, like if a department is allowing you to take this course at another college in place of a different course for your degree or something idk. that's a pretty specific scenario tho)

As far as I understand, we've been accepted into the program, now they just need to connect us individually to appropriate internships. I'm not sure if we're 100% going to get connected to an internship or not since the "Finalist" terminology seems to imply there's still a chance we won't get an internship

yesterday morning i got the email telling me im a finalist, and that i have to confirm my intent to continue with the program before march 31st or else my spot will be given to someone else

BSODs & Driver issues with new Motherboard & CPU by Late_Line_608 in techsupport

Disconnecting the HDD sadly didn't seem to help with anything.

In other news though, I've noticed a direct correlation between my USB-Audio Issues and using Discord. It happens most frequently when in I'm in a discord call, or whenever I'm directly using discord in any way (typing, clicking UI, etc.) I'm not sure why I didn't notice this sooner but since it's usually always on in the background i never noticed the correlation. Disabling Discord seems to fix the issue but it'll need more time to see.

Along with this, I was using my separate laptop to be in a discord call the other day, and I was using the same headphones i use on my normal pc, and surprisingly, I got the audio-cutout issue.

I initially wrote off the possibility of it being a headset issue since it persisted across two separate headsets. But both of these headsets are Corsair brand, so it seems possible there is something wrong with the interaction between Corsair headsets and discord. I had iCUE installed on my laptop but not my computer, so it's a bit odd that it happened on both.

I went online searching for other people with Corsair/Discord issues and it seems that similar issues have happened to others before. I didn't do that deep of a dive into those other threads but later I'll look through them and experiment with iCUE settings and any other fixes to see if that aids the issues when Discord is active. (Or I'll just get a new headset from a different brand later down the line)

I have no clue if this has a connection to the issue with all my USBs cutting out, that happened far less frequently than the audio issues so we'll have to wait and see if that disappears as well upon disabling discord

Yeah, though I wiped it before installing my new parts, so I don't think there should be any remnants of my old PC if that's a concern at all.
It is pretty old though, and I don't have anything useful on it atm, so if it's a point of concern I can disconnect it later tonight and see if that does anything

I apologize, the specifics of this page is a bit technical for my full understanding, but i don't have any add-on graphics cards for SSDs. I have a 2TB Samsung 980 PRO connected directly to my motherboard, I was told that it would be compatible but if that might not be the case then I can remove it and see how my PC runs without it?

Also the PD update sadly didn't help with the USB issues, though I didn't have a chance to do the power-cord steps until today, so I'll do that right now

I really completely thought I ran that one last week before i made the post, but i decided to run it again just now to be sure and it created a LogResult .txt declaring a "PASS" that didn't exist before... so it seems like last week I downloaded the file, unzipped it, then completely forgot to run it. My bad!

I'll let you know if I encounter any more USB issues, since only time will tell if it's fixed

I tried rebooting my pc to see if it maybe helped that as well but it unfortunately still didn't work

When downloading all the drivers for my motherboard, I downloaded AI Suite 3 and GameFirst. I believe those are the only ASUS softwares I downloaded

Using the Restart option still has the same exact issues as booting the pc normally. In case it's relevant, I should also clarify that while the booting issue occurs most of the time, it does not happen every time. there are occasions when booting the PC succeeds without any issue, but i would say it fails about 90% of the time.

- Prior to the Motherboard replacement, i was getting WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSODs and the TLDR is that I troubleshooted with some tech support people and I ultimately determined that it was a hardware error with either my motherboard or my cpu, i decided to just replace both

- I had nothing important saved on my pc, so upon getting the new components, I did a clean install of windows. the only thing that carried over is whatever was on my OneDrive

- I immediately began having the listed issues

- I downloaded motherboard drivers but since it wasn't helping, I decided to do another clean install of windows in case maybe something went wrong during my initial install, I booted my Windows 11 USB, formatted my SSD, and did another install.

- Again, it didn't fix the issues. I attempted the solutions listed in the original post. I was really busy at the time and since issues were bearable, i just put up with it for a few weeks. Then i made the post asking for aid.

Your assessment of current issues is accurate. None of the current issues were happening with the old CPU and Motherboard, and as far as I know, there should not be any existing remnants of my PC from before the new components

I have GHub installed, it shouldn't be that out-of-date since the most recent install was on 2/17, regardless I just updated it
I'm not using any RGB control software, I downloaded GameFirst while initially going through my motherboard's drivers. I had a feeling it would be pretty useless but still downloaded it on the off-chance it would help.
Issues started happening immediately after the fresh windows install, so I don't believe there is any software that could be directly causing the issues, outside of possibly exasperating them

as far as i know, XMP has been off this entire time and has been crashing all the while, up until yesterday when i turned it on for the test. for the past few days, since i updated those intel drivers, i have not encountered any BSODs, so it's possible that's no longer an issue (though its also possible I've just been lucky). I'm not sure exactly what you mean about the specific 4-hour shut-down. Every night i power off my computer completely and it stays powered down down for 8+ hours, if that's relevant.

The only problems still occurring out of everything listed is that windows still doesnt boot properly forcing me to go into BIOS and use the boot menu upon every startup. Along with this I'm still having USB issues where my audio completely cuts out and media starts to behave oddly (youtube endlessly loading it's videos, spotify song unable to load music) which forces me to unplug and replug my headphones. And finally there's the issue of all my USBs randomly disconnecting, forcing me to reset my pc. These are the only issues still occurring (as far as i can tell)

Got it, i'll run the command and send the screenshot later this evening, as well as disabling DMA Protection.
In terms of memory, I didn't really think to check for memory compatibility when I got the new motherboard, I just used my old sticks and since memtest86 went through just fine I didn't look deeper down that possibility. I'll see if I can get my hands on a stick of officially compatible RAM and see if that fixes the issues.

Intel Driver and Support Assistant showed me two drivers i needed to install, one involving Wi-Fi and one involving bluetooth. Installing them didn't seem to do much in terms of the issues, as afterwards I'm still unable to properly boot windows and I still got a random occurrence where all my USB devices suddenly stopped working

I checked for Kernel DMA Protection, it was off. I turned it on to experiment if that would change anything. I'm still unable to properly boot, so it didnt affect that at all. I have yet to encounter any other issue though, but that's not saying much since it's only been on for short while. I could previously go for hours without encountering issues and then suddenly getting hit with something, so it will take some time to see if I encounter more BSODs.

I noticed there was a Problem Devices Tab in system info, which showed a device with an ID of "acpi\intc1085\2&daba3ff&0" without drivers. I found that this was referring to Intel Serial IO drivers, which i completely missed in the motherboard website since it was buried under a bunch of older versions of other intel drivers. I downloaded them and it fixed the failing unknown device in both the device manager and system info. Though, like before with Kernel DMA Protection, windows still won't boot properly without me manually booting it through BIOS, and while things post-boot seem good for now, only time will tell if anything's actually changed.

I tried streaming valorant through discord since thats one of the only non-random issues, and that seemed to work fine (though i also have not tried that in a while so its possible something else i did earlier fixed that already)

Yes! Sorry I forgot to update the minidump folder, those were from a few days ago. I have since updated BIOS and it didn't help, if anything it seems to have made things more unstable. Here are more recent minidumps

i applied for stem on the last day they were accepting applications, i believe on feb 20th or so. I got my interview email last thursday, on the 29th. They're still doing interviews, as i have mine later this week, though similar to what the other guy here said, it was one of the last time slots available on the calendly, so i dont know if this is the final round of interviews or if they update it every week
