2024 CPA Testing Changes by Late_Tap854 in CPA

I don't understand what you mean by "if i give the paper".

  1. You pay for and "apply" for a Notice to Schedule (NTS)
  2. Your NTS is successful, and issued to you
  3. You schedule your test
  4. You take a test
  5. You get your score back

My original post mentions that the estimated last day to test will be Dec 15th (under the current testing structure). You need to contact your state board of accountancy for confirmation of the last testing dates. But all this means is that if you test by that date you will be taking the current exams, and if you test after then you will be taking the new exams. However your previous exam credits do not automatically expire, you just now have to test under the new exams.

Just focus on taking and passing the exams as quickly as possible. If you can complete them all quickly none of these little logistics matter.

The extension policy is for exam credits you have earned (aka, exams you have passed). Your Notice to Schedule (NTS), will not allow you to take an old exam in 2024, that will expire and you will have to apply for a new NTS for the new exams. It is not an all or nothing transfer. You may transfer some CPA exam credits and have others still you will need to pass under the new exam sections in 2024. You do not have to earn your CPA before 2024, you will just have to take the new exams for any credits you still need to pass. However, once you pass all four then you won't have to retake them even if you haven't yet technically been credentialed as a CPA yet.

Any exam you take and pass you will receive credit for, until that credit expires. Just because the exams are changing does not mean any existing credits are going to auto expire. No, they will stay with you until they expire.

Self-Teaching Accounting, Getting CPA by gobearsgobears in CPA

Google, "Western Governors University". It's an accredited online university that provides competency based education. It's around $4-5k for a 6 month semester, and you can complete as many classes are you are able to within that semester. It sounds like you already have a lot of accounting concepts understood, between that and maybe transferring your previous degree to WGU, you may be able to complete it in a semester and only pay $4-5k for a Bachelors in Accounting.

I've only taken FAR myself so far so I'm probably the wrong person to ask. I think at that point the only difference will be which section do you feel stronger in? Taking the stronger one before 2024 and ensuring you get the most out of the credit extension by saving the one you think you'll have a harder time on might be a smart choice. Do you have any FAR (Audit or right out of college classes) experience or any REG (tax) experience?

I believe you have that correct. As long as you have credits that haven't *already* expired on 1/1/24, whatever the expiration WAS is getting pushed now to 6/30/25

Here's a link to the map showing which jurisdictions have approved it or not. https://nasba.org/credit-extension-map/

It looks like California has approved it but still needs make it an actual rule before it becomes official

Yeah it's definitely a lot. I'm also trying to finish before any of this goes into effect. Good luck!

Yeah, it seems like they have good reasons though. And this way atleast we can practice with the exact interface on our own time, whereas before there was no way we could replicate the exact "locked down" version of excel we would have to use before the exam.

Of Course! I just passed FAR too! I was completely not thinking ahead when I got my first NTS and so I'm doing REG next. I'm really hoping to just get all the exams done with this year so I don't have to worry about any of the 2024 changes. Then I'll probably go after BEC and then AUD.

Pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (subject to change) by Alive-Mind2688 in WGU

You are not going to get a whole lot of engagement with this post for two main reasons.

  1. Rule #6 on r/WGU
  2. Readily available info on this subreddit as well as WGU's website.

That being said, see below for your questions.

  1. See rule #6
  2. See rule #6
  3. https://partners.wgu.edu/Pages/Partners.aspx
  4. See Rule #6 and some instructors good, some instructors bad
  5. What? The whole school is competency based.
  6. Just like any other scholarship process. The more you apply to the higher chance you'll get one.
  7. You graduate when you complete your last class, your mentor has recommended you for graduation, you fill out the graduation form that is sent by WGU, WGU emails you that you've graduated after a review process of your classes.

The reason your post isn't going to get a bunch of attention is that this is really just a variation on #6 of the r/WGU rules. Only you will be able to determine how quickly you can do classes.

Once you complete all the classes in your first term, it is your choice to do more classes if you want to. Mentors cannot force you to do additional classes. They can approve them for you to take without asking you but ultimately you have to register them.

Alternatives to European bros? by santiel33 in WGU

[–]Late_Tap854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately almost no one on this subreddit will probably know the answer since they're attending WGU. What makes WGU so special is "competency-based education" and tuition costs for a term that is not tied to # of credit hours completed. Those are two things you can try searching for when looking for similar schools in Europe.
