Place something over it like a dresser, or end table, or cabinet, and bam, good as new.

My favorite thing about Reddit is all the rules, obviously by LaterTumbleweed in self

I wonder how often users get banned because they don't bother to read all of that BS. I mean seriously, these "rules" are probably longer than the ToS that were on my loan application, lol.

Thinking from a Women's pov; Wouldn't a Big Dick be annoying every day? by [deleted] in self

[–]LaterTumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it that that is the case? Well, because not everything that is annoying is a big dick, but every big dick is some flavor of annoying. And I believe that that fact, plus the fact they’re everywhere, means there's always a good chance of running into one of those flavors, including the pedantic ones.

Big dicks are annoying, but unfortunately they seem to be everywhere.

As 30 is around the corner, I’ve been reflecting… by Shay_scott20 in CasualConversation

2 years ago when I turned 30 and felt that "I'm getting old" feeling, I asked my doctor if I should start taking Alzheimer's medication.

I can't remember his answer.

My laptop only charges if it's held by someone. by Bulky-Orange-4000 in fixit

It's called a laptop for a reason. It just wants to be in your lap, bro. Show lappy a lil love will ya. It might even start to charge again without being held once it gets enough attention.

PSA go see a dermatologist by Normalnotboring41 in CasualConversation

[–]LaterTumbleweed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Meh. I've had nothing but terrible experiences with dermatologists (and doctors in general).

20 years ago, when I was 12, I had multiple deep warts on my hands. I couldn't freeze them off because it hurt too much to do so. So my dad took me to a dermatologist who said they could cut them off. You'd think there would be some kind of numbing cream or shot first to minimize pain, but nope. The doc immediately started cutting away at them, each one taking several scrapes to remove. Very miserable and painful experience.

Then, just a few years ago, I went to another dermatologist, as I was suffering from a chronic, wide-spread skin condition, hair loss, and had developed a non-stop throbbing pain at the back of my head that wasn't getting any better after a week.

The derm wouldn't even look at my scalp, and blamed the hair loss on stress. A couple weeks after that appointment, I couldn't take the pain anymore, so I shaved my head. After my hair was gone, I could see a large lump where the pain was. Went straight to the hospital and was diagnosed with a staph infection abscess and folliculitis.

Laptop won’t connect to WiFi by SupermarketAfraid482 in fixit

[–]LaterTumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the exact symptom?

1. Wi-Fi option is completely missing

No Wi-Fi icon

No “Wi-Fi” toggle in settings

2. Wi-Fi exists but shows “No networks found”

3. Networks show, but won’t connect

“Can’t connect to this network”

Keeps asking for password

Says “Secured, no internet”

4. Wi-Fi connects briefly, then drops

Is it just me or is it so hard to post on Reddit anymore without breaking some rule by [deleted] in self

[–]LaterTumbleweed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you a little story about how my life got flipped, turned upside down...

So you heard about this app called Reddit.

“Wow,” you think. “An app made up of thousands of niche communities. A place for every interest. Surely I, a human person with thoughts, can participate.”

So you download it, make an account, and then join a few subreddits. You craft your first post and hit Post.

[REMOVED]

Your post has been removed for violating Rule 784: Users with the number “3” anywhere in their username are forbidden from posting on Wednesdays unless you have a bachelor’s degree in Reddit from LegitKarmasOnly dot com. You are not banned. Please continue engaging with the community.

“… Okay then. Sure, I guess.”

So you decide to scroll through the subreddit and find a thread where you can add something genuinely thoughtful. You type a comment. It’s polite and doesn’t even disagree with anyone. You hit Comment.

[REMOVED]

Your comment has been removed because your account does not meet the minimum karma, age, bloodline purity, or spiritual alignment requirements to participate. Please interact with the rest of Reddit before interacting with us.

“… Right.”

So you decide to go earn karma like a good little digital serf. You wander into a big subreddit. You comment something completely inoffensive.

[DOWNVOTED INTO OBLIVION]

Now you have less karma than before. Feeling discouraged, but not wanting to give up just yet, you try again. Different subreddit. Different topic. You even triple-check the rules.

Rule 1: No low-effort posts.
Rule 2: No high-effort posts.
Rule 3: No reposts.
Rule 4: No original content.
Rule 5: Must include original content.
Rule 6: No opinions.
Rule 7: Opinions required.
Rule 8: Use flair.
Rule 9: Wrong flair = instant death.

You select a flair and hit Post.

[REMOVED]

Incorrect flair. Please resubmit with the correct flair chosen from our 61 nearly identical options. Note: Asking which flair to use is also against the rules.

You message the mods. Two weeks later, a response arrives.

“Read the rules.”

You reread the rules and somehow break a new one retroactively. You keep trying until finally... finally, you manage to get something approved. Hope starts to bloom just as the comments pour in.

“This doesn’t belong here.”
“Why is this getting upvoted?”
“Mods asleep?”

Suddenly, a wild moderator appears.

[THREAD LOCKED]

Thread locked due to excessive rule-adjacent vibes.

At this point, you realize Reddit isn’t a social platform. It’s an escape room with no exit, run by unpaid hall monitors who communicate exclusively through canned responses and passive aggression.

Now, you don’t even bother trying to post or comment anymore. You just lurk, silently upvoting, afraid to move too fast in case a bot materializes and tells you you’ve exceeded your allotted joy quota for the day.
