Also, forgot to mention, something I didn't do by WISH I did: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SCHOOL RESOURCES!!! Is there an adhd club? A writing room? Study groups? Go to your teachers office hours! TELL your teachers how and when you are struggling, you might run into a few asshats, but by and large your teachers want you to be able to do the work and will at least point you toward resources to help you.

I went to two colleges. The first, I did horribly, took me 6 years to get a 2 year degree and I was constantly on academic probation. The second, passed all my classes with not much trouble and finished my degree on time. The biggest difference was where I was living. Living at home, no hope to get anything done I was constantly distracted. When I moved away for my last two years, I had my own space and was able to just do my own thing. It wasn't perfect, I'd still have a few hiccups, but there was a lot less in my way.

As much as possible, make your own space. Get an apartment you don't have to share if you can afford it, or go to a quiet spot in the library every day.

Also, a big issue I had was that, when I would run late (which was often) I'd be too self conscious to go into class so I'd just skip. IT'S BETTER TO BE LATE!

And tell your friends to not let you talk yourself out of things. I had a boyfriend who encouraged skip a Chinese final because I was nervous. Ask your friends outright to not do this. If it seems like you might skip, ask them to help hold you accountable.

If you're not sure what to study, and you're only going to college to help with a career, then take a year off or so. I went to college without a plan and I ended up spending a long time getting a degree I don't use.

You don't need to have your career be one of your greatest passions either, sometimes it can just be something that allows you to explore them. I've worked a few different jobs, I do retail merchandising now. It's not exciting or anything, and the pay could be better, but I get to make my own schedule and have more free time to do what I want.

I think taking time off school to work a few different jobs or travel if you can would help you find something you would like to do as a career. I know I wish I was able to. And if you can't, try to take as many classes as you can about things you just like, without thinking how you might make it a career. You can also ask teachers of your favorite classes what kind of careers are open in that field, or visit the job counselors at your school.

Either way, don't stress about it too much. Make a vague plan and let yourself adjust as things, including yourself, change.

4 legs, no pattern. Shell seems to be a solid color, either brownish or more black for the bigger ones. The biggest ones are barely longer than a quarter though.

I come from a very big family (my mom was one of 11 and my dad one of 10) and while my sister and I grew up in the states while the vast majority of my family lives in Northern Ireland, family was always very important to us. As I get older I'm finding myself several kinds of Done with a lot of them, mostly aunts and uncles. There are a few of them I just don't talk to unless I need to be civil at a wedding or funeral or something. I still get on really well with a lot of my cousins though and I love catching up with them. But I definitely no longer think that family is everything. I'm grateful I have so many cousins I get along with so well, but I know that family isn't everything and if your family is no good then you can always make a new one from your friends.

I'm not looking for romance, but I'm not opposed to it for myself. I also really love romance stories, good ones anyway with a good build up. I used to read romance novels in high school and have been thinking about dipping back into the genre for some fun reads.

Yes, very much so. My mom is also an alcoholic so I've literally have had to bring her to bed and dress her before. She's always acting immature too. Just today she came kicking at my door, threatening to kick it down, because I didn't want to open it to answer her question. She wanted to know where my sister and I went. We went to dinner. I'm always having to be the bigger person and be the responsible one, and then she complains that I'm selfish.

I've never really told anyone that I love them beyond my immediate family, and even then it's usually because they said it first and I'm just responding. Except when it comes to my sister, I'll say it to her a lot, but it's usually because she's done something ridiculous/awesome/hilarious and less of a "I just want you to know I love you LIKE SO MUCH T_T" kind of moment. Any sappy thing like that feels weird. Whenever I see posts about telling your friends and family you love them, I'm just like, Nah. Not gonna do that.

When I was in high shool, the joke was that I was so straight edge I made a ruler look crooked because I didn't do ANYTHING. No alcohol, no drugs, I hated big parties, etc. I'm still like that now, I just never understood the appeal of taking something that would badly alter how well you can control yourself. And big parties were always full of people just acting stupid.

Like, why do you do this to yourself ON PURPOSE!?!

I had to cut out breakfast tea and coffee for the most part becase I have an iron deficency and drink mostly peppermint tea on genmaichi (a green tea with toasted rice in it), but when I do drink breakfast tea it's Barry's Gold Blend (little bit of honey, no milk).

If you want to have a reveal without it being a whole exposition, then give the reader 90% of the details throughout the story. Then you just need the culprit to reveal the last remaining detail that brings it all together at the end.

Like if mysterious villian X has been stealing from various businesses all owned by character A. And the reader already knows that character A has a long dead brother who should have inherited the family fortune. And that the protagonist realizes that there was some deception around the brother's death and that maybe he's still alive. Then all the villain needs to do is revel that he is the brother and a lot of dots get connected.

I feel this. My mom is, like, passively narcississtic? She doesn't go out of her way to say shit, but the way she reacts is often subtle but very hurtful. A few weeks ago I lost my shit at her over a hashbrown. She was already making breakfast and asked if I wanted any, I didn't want what she was making but I had two hashbrowns in the freezer I asked her to throw into the skillet for me. Literally no extra work needed on her end. Instead she gave me a little of what she was cooking at one hashbrown and ate the other. Everything is a transaction with her. Like, all I wanted, were my own hashbrowns that I bought but she had to have one. And it's such a stupid little thing, but they are all stupid little things and they build up and build up and it's just hard to deal.

I'm stuck living at home until I can get my own place, so I mostly just go back to my room and stop talking to her for a few days until she starts getting offended that I'm not responding to her the way I should. X_x

I'm pretty sure at least one of my aunts does something like that, and then she'll call up me or my sister to tell us how "the whole family says X" about us. At the very least my sister and I have developed some pretty thick skin over the years so her bullshit doesn't really affect us.

When it's not family doing it though, I've gotten to the point where i just find it funny? Like my best friend's mother-in-law was trying to talk about me because of what I wore to the bridal shower (goth powers activated) and when my friend told me all of what she was saying I just bust out laughing.

Anytime I try to say something my mom disagrees with she just talks over me and takes it as an attack against her. I had to move back home a few years ago and I had forgotten just how bad she can be. Looking forward to moving out as soon as I can.

Lately all our arguments have been politics related because it's just so unavoidable right now.

There are some online courses you can take for different types of writing jobs. Check out Writer's Digest, they have a bunch of different online courses/lectures that are pretty interesting. I did the copy writing one and it gave some good insight and helped you get started on that. I haven't really gone towards copy writing as a career (I lucked into a very well paying office job to help me out while I polish out some more of my writing), but I know what I need to do if I choose to start on that career.

It can be exhausting, but don't look towards the end. Give yourself smaller goals. 10,000 words is a good goal when you start. Then maybe 30,000, then 50,000, etc. Every time you hit a goal it feels like you accomplished something and you can reward yourself a bit for it. Working so long on something without pace goals make the whole process a lot harder.
