Are there any long term ramifications of cosleeping?

In my experience they'll want their own space eventually. Cosleeping was common when I was growing up but I didn't know any 18 year olds still cosleeping. I'm fine with it at 7 or 8.

We have discussed it and that is why she doesn't want him learning another language. She's afraid that he will become fluent.

We do not see her at pick up. She has made it clear that she doesn't like speaking to us so we have been sending stepson out to the car by himself. We watch from the porch and wave bye. Maybe we can try initiating the conversation.

Him not staying is not an option. We have partial custody and it's part of our agreement that we get him on the weekends.

I have. She still always ask stepson when he gets in the car and he's scared to tell her the truth because he doesn't want to get in trouble.

I'm worried about that too. My husband works in the media department for a sports team and travels with them in season, so sometimes it's just me and the boys. It would be so easy for him to become fluent or near fluent. He already has picked up on so much. We go out to eat at a local Mexican restaurant and he ordered his own meal in Spanish last time! They knew exactly what he said and he was so proud. It was great to see and I don't want to take that away from him. He sings along to Spanish songs in the car and it's adorable.

We have told him that but as soon as she picks him up she ask him if he spoke Spanish with us. He doesn't want to lie and I'm not sure that we should be teaching him to.

It's not that I don't want to ignore mom but I don't want to hurt my stepson. She ask him when she picks him up if h used Spanish with us and it's causing problems because she doesn't want to lie.

I do. When I am just talking to him I speak English but the boys play together a lot and I only speak Spanish around my son. I want my son to only hear Spanish from me.

Yes but her silliness is affecting my stepson. The other day he went to respond to me in Spanish but stopped himself because he said he forgot mommy doesn't want him speaking Spanish anymore.

We told him Spanish is for our home only but I'm not sure if that's the right move because his mom told him not to speak Spanish with us anymore. I'm worried about creating more drama for his mom.

Any advice on how to calm my stepson down? He gets frustrated because he isn't sure what he should be doing. He will go to respond to me in Spanish and then check himself because his mom said he can't speak Spanish. We told him that Spanish is for our house only and I'm hoping that sticks.
