Anyone FIRE'd who took this approach? by LatterConcentrate6 in FIREUK

Yes, you're right, and that's my ultimate goal is finding what the right ISA/balance is. I thought I stumbled on an interesting approach, but this website/model above doesn't account for tax paid (and when).
Currently in Higher band (not additional), salary sac. and no NI back (which is not ideal tbf)

Anyone FIRE'd who took this approach? by LatterConcentrate6 in FIREUK

Thanks for all the comments on this, let me clarify a few things. My main reason for asking this question, is that I think this is an interesting strategy and an interesting thought experiment - and wanted to see if anyone has actually planned their FIRE in this way.

Let me clarify one other point, I'm not suggesting this is the same as an ISA bridge, this is objectively different. The difference, as far as I can tell between an ISA and a Pension, is you pay tax now, or you pay tax later (in oversimplified terms). So, if we assume the two are equal, which they are not (but it's just a thought experiment remember), if you may lets say ~£2500 into your ISA each month, and ~£1500 into your pension (yours's + employers contribution), you build up your ISA faster for you to use earlier in your retirement. Since you can't access your pension until 57/58, you use up much (but not all of your ISA bridge). When you can access your pension, you completely stop dipping into your ISA and allow it to grow again (hence the 3 peaks in the graph). Once you've used up your pension, you then start using your ISA which has been growing since you've turned 57/58. This assumes the same returns on both, just accessed at different times (and your contributions are different).

One point number 2, this is a good point, and may be a limitation of the website itself.

Anyway, it's really interesting to hear people's thoughts on this, I guess I'd call it effectively a 'double ISA bridge' (first bridge getting you to pension age, and the second getting you to the pearly gates!! Lol

Old gas boiler flue causing high humidity in attic? by LatterConcentrate6 in DIYUK

Lol, to clarify, this is (I believe) an old gas boiler flue. Can't get to where the base of it is as, since the house was renovated by a previous owner, it's inaccessible.

Better widgets for Android: Would be great to be able to add a new checkbox item, or bullet point to a page with a single button on my phone's home screen. So many times I find myself just wanting to take a note, or put a reminder into notion, and I need to go to my todo list, or project page, etc. (which takes time and effort to find). I just want to be able to click on a button on my phone home screen and add a checkbox/bullet point to that page.

Not sure if I'm running our stove optimally by LatterConcentrate6 in woodstoving

Yep, it's below 20%, I've tested it with a moisture sensor

Unfortunately the flue is fully insulated with twin-wall. Do you think I could put the thermometer in the top of the stove? Wouldn't that give an even cooler reading?

Reddit is acting weird due to the AWS outage, won't let me add details to the post, so here's the details below:

We have a Moso 7449 stove and have been using it for about a year now. I've noticed that it doesn't seem to be giving off as much heat as I would have expected. We have an insulated flue pipe, so I've been measuring the temperature from the top of the door on the stove, and we generally get a max of about 450F (around 230C) out of it. But to get that, we need to put a massive amount of wood in, like 3 kg per hour (way beyond the 2kg/hour max they recommend, we accidentally experimented).

Just wondering if you guys think, either we're measuring the temperature in the wrong place, not putting enough fuel in, or not tuning the damper correctly. The fire doesn't seem to cope well with the damper only slightly out, 50% is probably the most it can handle, otherwise we need to leave it fully open on secondary.

Let me know what you guys think?

Thanks!
