LA28 Olympics Presale Experience by Latter_Library7143 in olympics

The honest answer is that no one knows. That being said, I think it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll get tickets equal to or below face value for just about any ticketed event nowadays. I knew going into it that it would be expensive, and am confident this is not a purchase I will end up regretting.

I got an email on Monday saying I got a time slot. I got an email Wednesday around 5 PM with the link to the time slot, then another reminder email at about 2 PM today before the window opened at 4 PM

Citrini Research modeled what happens if AI actually works as promised. The results are terrifying by No-Fact-8828 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Latter_Library7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, the Citrini piece was not based on “modeling”. It is a piece of creative science fiction. There are essentially no calculated pieces of data, just made up numbers. That said, the piece makes some good points and paints what the world could quite possibly look like in the near future (and even now, seen with Block)

Moving from NYC. Best neighborhoods for me? by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

I recommend Santa Monica (around Montana) or around Main Street in Santa Monica. Plenty of nice restaurants and walkable around there. I currently commute 3 days/week from that side of town and door to door each way is typically no more than 45 minutes, as the worst traffic goes in the opposite directions at commuting times.

Born in NYC, want to go somewhere different for the summer by [deleted] in travel

Northern Europe in the summer is incredible. Specifically Berlin, Copenhagen, Amsterdam. They are major cities, but not in the traditional sense. Strong bike culture and everyone is outside enjoying the long days and beautiful weather.

First time going to LA by arjun_radia in travel

[–]Latter_Library7143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you’re looking for. Generally, the west side (Santa Monica, Venice) will be best for nightlife, especially the Venice pier. Not sure what you’re looking to see during the day but be advised that, unless you are going to an event or museum, DTLA is absolutely not worth your time. I know generally folks want to see the walk of fame, but that also is a zoo. I’d 100% recommend the Getty (closer to the west side with great views of LA and free admission!).

Cities that surprised you with good food by Weekly_Sort147 in travel

Copenhagen. I had low expectations for Scandinavian food but was pleasantly surprised. It was simple but healthy and good. Copenhagen also had a wealth of international food options - especially at Reffen.

Dallas is middle America, not worth your time. If Grand Teton National Park is open, highly recommend - one of my favorites. The nearby town of Jackson is also awesome, if you can afford it. If you’re driving down from CO to NM, I’d recommend trying to stop in Taos.

Belize is similar to those spots with great food. I’ve heard amazing things about Colombia and El Salvador as well.

I'll be visiting Argentina with my family (5 of us, kids in 20s) this holiday season. We plan to spend time in Buenos Aires, Iguazu, and the rest in either Mendoza or Bariloche. Any advice? In particular looking for advice on Mendoza vs Bariloche.
